The Advanced Weapons Lab, China Lake -- where Sensor / Smart Plane / Smart Bomb combinations are developed, and wired together to test their real-world, real-time performance - including full-scale, in-lab mock-ups prior to flying.

Now, let’s unpack that statement… Full-scale – because it takes a nanosecond (.000000001) for an electron to travel along 1 foot of computer cable. And, in digital warfare, nanosecond precision is essential. So, you must test with full-scale distances between sensors, plane, and bombs.In-Lab Mock-ups – because in-flight testing costs more than 25 times as expensive as in-lab, mock-up tests.Sensors – because these “eyes and ears” are our current technological edge.Smart Planes – because air power is the US’s preferred tool for power projection.
