The Ten Commandments: Why ten?

Numbers are used all through out the Bible to denote exactness and sometimes approximation. The number of brethren

who saw the risen Christ was more than 500!

I Corinthians 15:6

After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of w hom the greater part remain unto this

present , but some are fallen asleep.

The number 500 in this verse shows approximately the more than sufficient number of witnesses of the resurrection of

Christ.

Most of the time, numbers are used to denote exactness.

I Peter 3:20

Which som etime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering o f God waited in the days of Noah, while the

ark was a preparing, wh erein few, that is, eight souls w ere saved by water.

The number eight (8) in the preceding verse gives the exact figure of humans who boarded the ark.

Definitely only one!

Luke 17:17-19

And Jesus answering said, were there not ten cleansed? But where are the nine?

There are not fou nd that returned to g ive glory to Go d, save this stranger.

And h e said unto him, Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole.

God is the only one person in the universe who knows exactly the exact number of everything that exists!

Matthew 10:30

But th e very hairs of your head are all numbered.

He is the only power that can make one hair black or white!

Matthew 5:36

Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst n ot make one hair wh ite or black.

Bald billionaires may testify to this truth. Not even their billions can bring back their beautiful hair. God even counts hair

to assure protection!

THE ACTS 27:33

Even the innumerable stars are numbered and named by God Almighty!

Psalms 147:4

He telleth the num ber of the stars; he calleth them all by their names.

You might ask me why the Bible did not record the number of stars. There was no numerical figure during those times

when the Bible was being written (and even now that we have the Hubble Space Telescope) to sufficiently and exactly

give us the number of stars in the universe. Stars are innumerable by human standards. The term googol was very

recently applied by modern mathematicians. This is another proof that the Bible is an authentic, scientific book!

In the case of very d istant, old galaxies, the tell tale light may no t reach Earth as it is blocked by interstel lar

clouds of dust and gas and, as a result, these galaxies are missed b y the m ap-makers.

Astronomers always knew they were missing some fraction of the galaxies but for the first time we now

have a measurement. The number of missed galaxies is substantial, saidMatthew Hayes of the University of

Genevas observatory, who led the investigation.

Hayes team used the worlds most advancedoptical instrument EuropesVery Large Telescope (VLT) in

Chile, whic h has four 8.2-metre (26.65-feet) behemo ths to carry out the experiment.

A go ogol is 10 to the 100th power (which is 1 follow ed by 100 zeros). A googol is larger than the num ber of

elementary partic les in the universe, which amount t o only 10 to the 80th power.

The term was invented by Milton Sirotta, the 9-year nephew of m athematic ian Edward Kasner, who had asked

his nephew wh at he thought such a large number sho uld be called. Such a number, Milton apparently replied

after a short tho ught, could on ly be called something as silly as a googol.

Later, another mathematic ian devised the term googolplex for 10 to the power of goo gol that is, 1 followed by

10 to the p ower of 100 zeros. Frank Pilhofer has d etermined that, givenMoores Law(which is that comp uter

processor po wer doubles about every 1 to 2 years), it would m ake no sense to try to print out a googolp lex for

anoth er 524 years since all earl ier attempts to pr int a googolp lex out wou ld be overtaken by the faster

processor.

Why Ten Commandments?

Ten, denotes exactness of the commandments that were written on two tablets of stones.

Deuteronomy 4:13

And he declared unto you his covenant, which he commanded you to perform , even ten commandm ents; and

he wrote them upon two tables of stone.

Why is it necessary to put the number ten? Because some unscrupulous writers may add to the commandments which

is against Gods will!

Deuteronomy 12:32

What thing soever I comm and you, observe to do it: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it.

Even a jot or a tittle must not be taken away from the complete commandments.

Matthew 5:18

For veri ly I say unto you, Til l heaven and earth pass, one jot or one titt le shall in no wi se pass from th e law, ti l l

a l l be fulf i l led.

Adding anything is also against Gods exact will.

Proverbs 30:6

Add th ou not un to his word s, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.

Revelation 22:18-19

For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of th e prophecy of this boo k, If any man shall add unto

these things, God shall add unto him th e plagues that are written in this book: A nd if any man shall take away

from the words of the boo k of this prop hecy, God shall take away his part out of the book o f li fe, and out of the

holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

To know how to count is a very important wisdom in the Bible.

REVELATION 13:18

Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding co unt the numb er of the beast: for it is the number of a man;and his num ber is Six hundred threescore and six.

It is sad to note that this important truth was not learned by the leaders of the Seventh Day Adventist Church! They

insist that the Ten Commandments are in effect and should be followed even in our present dispensation. Here is what

they have to say in their book:

While they insist that there are Ten Commandments, they baptize their members! Baptism is a commandment of Christ.

It is not written nor included in the two tablets of stone. There were only ten commandments written on the stone which

God gave to Moses.

EXODUS 31:18

And h e gave unto Moses, when he had made an end of communin g with him upon m ount Sinai, two tables of

testimony, tables of stone, written with the finger of God.

A simple knowledge in arithmetic can disprove the claim of the Seventh Day Adventist Church that the commandments

that apply to all humanity at all times are the Ten Commandments. Granting that the Ten Commandments are now in

force, plus baptism, there will be no ten but eleven commandments!

The truth and the fact is: the giving and the collection of tithes is another commandment.

Hebrews 7:5

And veri ly they that are of the sons of L evi, who receive the office of the priesthood, have a commandm ent to

take tithes of the people according to th e law, that is, of their brethren, though th ey come out o f the loins of

Abraham:

You will not be speaking the exact truth if you say that there are ten commandments, and at the same time you are

baptizing and collecting tithes!

It will not be very easy for the leaders of the SDA to do away with the tithes, because it is through the collection of tithes

that they enrich themselves.

There was a change of priesthood. The Levitical priesthood ended in Christ so with the law on tithing!

Hebrews 7:5, 12

For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law.

The law on giving in the Christian era is not tithing!

II CORINTHIANS 9:7

Every man according as he purposeth in h is heart, so let him give; not g rudgingly, or of n ecessity: for God

loveth a cheerful giver.

Why are these people (SDA) misled? It is because of the erroneous teachings that came from an unauthorized teacher.

I Timothy 2:11-13

Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority

over the man, but to b e in silence. For Adam was first form ed, then Eve.

Women leaders are prophesied to mislead people!

Isaiah 3:12

As for my p eople, children are their oppressors, and w omen rule over them. O my people, they which lead thee

cause thee to err, and destroy the way of thy paths.

Ellen G. White is a self-proclaimed teacher who founded a false church which is now called the Seventh Day Adventist

Church!

THE COMMANDMENTS FOR CHRISTIANS

The Ten Commandments ended in Christ.

Romans 10:4

For Christ is th e end of the law for righ teousness to every one that believeth.

Its efficacy was until John.

Luke 16:16 (New Revised Standard Version)

The law and the prophets were in effect until John came; since then the good news of the kingdom of God is

proclaimed, and everyone tries to enter it by force.

Jesus preached the Good News or the Gospel, not the Ten Commandments!

Mark 1:14-15

Now after that John was put in pr ison, Jesus came into Gali lee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God,

and saying, The time is fulf i l led, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.

Christ repealed the Ten Commandments!

Matthew 5:21-22

Ye have heard that it was said by them of o ld time, Thou shalt not kil l ; and whoso ever shall ki l l shall be in

danger of the judgm ent: but I say unto you, That whosoever is angry w ith his broth er without a cause shall be

in danger of the judgm ent: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but

whos oever shall say, Thou foo l, shall be in danger of hell fire.

Hating a brother in Christ is a serious offense in the commandments of Christ!

I John 3:15

Whosoever hateth his brother is a murd erer: and ye know th at no murd erer hath eternal l i fe abiding in him.

MATTHEW 5:27-28

Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: but I say unto you, That

whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

The law of Christ is the law for Christians.

Galatians 6:2

Bear ye one anothers burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.

Paul counted himself as under the law of Christ and not under the Ten Commandments.

I Corinthians 9:20-21 (Revised Standard Version)

To the Jews I became as a Jew, in order to win Jews; to those und er the law I became as one under the law

though n ot being myself under the law that I might w in those under th e law. To thos e outside the law I

became as one outside the law not being without law tow ard God but under the law of Christ that I might

win thos e outside the law.

A little understanding of mathematics and logic will enlighten the members of the Seventh Day Adventist Church who

were misled by Ellen G. White!
