    I. Objective:

    Given a selection and varied activities, the third year students, with at least 85%accuracy will be able to:

    A. explain the six most commonly confusing cases of SV agreement;

    B. share the importance of following the correct rule of SV agreement ; and

    C. give sample sentence for each case.

    III.Procedure

    A. Stimulating Activity

    1. The teacher will let the students read the selection about the legend of

    Santa Claus.

    (Note: The selection has many grammatical errors)

    SANTA

    According to legend, Santa Claus is a fat old man who visits everyhouse on our planet in about eight hours on one of the coldest nights of the year.Santa, as everybody knows, stop for a glass of milk and a cookie at each house

    along the route. He prefer to work unnoticed, so he wears luminous red suit and travelswith a pack of bell-jangling reindeer. For reasons that most people does not understand,this jolly old man enters each house not by the front door but through the chimney(whether you has a chimney or not ). He customarily gives generously to children inwealthy families and he usually remindpoorer children that its the thought that counts.Santa Claus is one of the earliest beliefs that parents try to instill in their children. Afterthis absurdity, its a wonder that any child ever believe in anything again.

    2. The students are given three minutes to read and carefully analyze

    the selection.

    3. After which the teacher will ask the students the following questions:

    a. What is the selection all about?

    b. Is there something wrong with the selection ?

    c. What makes it wrong or incorrect?

    4. The teacher will then process the answer of the students and will

    connect it to the lesson proper.

    B. Actual Activity

    1. The teacher will give a small introduction about the Basic Rule ofSubject-Verb Agreement .

    The Basic Rule

    Singular subject takes singular verb.

    Plural subject takes plural verb.

    Example:

    The girl plays the clarinet.

    The dog barks.

    We walk in going to the market.

    Justin and Joshua play badminton.

    2. After which, the teacher will then group the class into three groups.

    3. Each group is assigned to explain two cases of the six confusing casesof SV agreement

    Group 1

    Case 1 and Case 2

    Group 2

    Case 3 and Case 4

    Group 3

    Case 5 and Case 6

    ( the teacher will provide each group with the photocopy of the SixMost Commonly Confusing Cases in SV Agreement)

    4. The groups are given five minutes to prepare and six minutes topresent.

    5. Then teacher will solicit also examples from students for each case(sample sentences).

    6. The teacher will give follow-up questions after each presentation.

    7. After the presentation the teacher will ask the students the followingquestions:

    a. Is it really necessary to follow the correct rule of SV agreement?

    b. How important is following the correct rule of SV agreement incommunication using English Language?

    C. Follow-up Activity

    1. The teacher will let the students work in pair.

    2. Each pair is assigned to answer a particular number and explainafterwards, their answer.

    On a short sized bond paper make a letter for someone that captures yourattention nowadays ( secret letter). Use the six common confusing cases of SVagreement that you are using in your letter. Do not forget to underline the SV agreementthat you are using in your letter.
