• It is a social activity that helps to improve the processes
and products in every field of life like industry, business,
medicine, education, agriculture, economics etc.
• It is considered to be the more formal, systematic,
intensive process of carrying out scientific analysis and it
involves a systematic investigation that may result in a
formal record of procedures and some kind of
generalization
