themes from thinking together 28th february

First round of participant registration brings us a chef, GP, gardener, student, teacher, postman, welder, social worker, driver, youth worker and full-time mum. These folk and others will be thinking together in a new way about our future. What values are most important to you for the Future of Scotland? How can we make Scotland a better place to be? How do we put our values into practical action in our personal, family, community, and work life?

Working to a tight time scale, with limited resources, supported by hunners of goodwill and volunteer action. This assemblyis brought alive by a diverse collaboration of organisationsand individuals. Partners include Future of Scotland, SCVO, Church of Scotland, Electoral Reform Society, PPN/Academyof Government and others. Folk that like the idea but can’t get along on the day can support by adding their pennies into the pot and buying a participant their lunch or a coffee.

“”Democracy”, says Frances Moore Lappé, “is not what we have: democracy is what we do.” And even more than that: democracy is a muscle. It needs exercise. ‘Thinking Together’ is just the most fabulous democratic workout.” Quoting Perry Walker, New Economics Foundation Fellow.
