UNHAS COMMENCES ITS SEVENTH INTERNATIONAL CLASS

Since late 2016, UNHAS has continuously explored measures to establish its International Classes. The first International classes were inaugurated the same year, for two study programs under the Faculty of Economics and Business, which are Accounting, and Management Study Programs; and one study program at Faculty of Public Health.

UNHAS then continued to establish International Classes for Civil Engineering, International Relations, Geological Engineering, and Marine Sciences. All seven International classes in Hasanuddin Univer-sity facilitate advanced teaching and learning with facilities that are of International standards.

The undergraduate programs are opened for students in Indonesia, and prospective students worldwide.

All classes are taught in English. What makes the International Class programs unique, is the solid partnership that these study programs have developed with partnering universities around the globe, including those in Malaysia, Japan, Germany, and Australia.

UNHAS is committed to attracting students worldwide to experience short and long-term studies in the International Classes.

PSM (STUDENT’S CHOIR) WON GOLD & SILVER MEDAL AT 10TH WORLD CHOIR TSHWANE SOUTH AFRICA 2018 PSM (Paduan SuaraMahasiswa/Student’s Choir) Unhas has successful-ly won Gold Medal for Scenic Folklore category and Silver Medal for Pop Show category at the World Choir Games Tshwane South Africa 2018. World Choir Games is one of the largest competitions for Choir competition around the world. This year the organizer of the event held the 10th World Choir Games in Tshwane South Africa which is the first World Choir organized in Africa. Approximately, around 300 choirs participated in the World Choir Games with around 16,000 participants from various countries around the world. Unhas students’ choir itself is led by a conductor, Anshari Sanusi. In this event, PSM Unhas participated in two categories which are Pop Show and Scenic Folklore. In the Scenic Folklore category, PSM Unhas received 80.5 point and Gold Medal from the judges. In the Pop Show category, PSM Unhas received 76 point and Silver Medal. Universitas Hasanuddin and Curtin University have agreed to cooperate and recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding on July 18th, 2018 as a follow-up of Curtin University officials’ visit to Faculty of Economics and Business on July 2018. Prof. Dr. Dwia Aries Tina Pulubuhu and Prof. Deborah Terry AO, Vice-Chancellor of Curtin University signed the document at their respective University.

The MoU is expected to be beneficial for both parties and can be used as a framework for further cooperation such as student mobility, joint-research and other beneficial activities. In regard to the MoU, Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) has utilised the MoU as the basis for signing the Credit for Recognised Learning document in order to establish a double degree cooperation for International Undergraduate Class in FEB.

UNHAS LECTURER AT THE WORLD DENTAL & ORAL HEALTH CONGRESS IN LONDONFriday – Saturday, 20-21 July 2018 – UNHAS lecturer, Dr. drg. Asma-wati Amin, M.Kes. from Faculty of Dentistry gave a presentation at the World Dental and Oral Health Congress in London. The event was held on Friday – Saturday, 20-21 July 2018. The presentation was entitled Comparison of Blood Clam (Anadara granosa)Shell Paste, Shrimp (Litopenacus vannamaei) shell paste, and Casein phospopep-tide amorphous calcium phosphate (CPP – ACP) Paste as Teeth Rem-ineralization Material.

got the honour to accompany the Minister of State-Owned Enterprises, Rini Sumarno and the Commissioner of BNI to attend the Global Leader Forum’s Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) in Washington DC, USA, July 23rd – 26th, 2018.

CSIS is one of the leading and influential think tanks in the world. It was found in 1962 in Washington DC and CSIS is now recognized as an institution that plays a vital role in the domestic and foreign policy of the United States. The Global Leaders Forum is a distinctive forum held regularly by CSIS to provide opportunities for policy makers

from around the world to share ideas and perspectives on public policy issues.

On a regular basis, the forum is attended by American government executives, legislative officials, for-eign diplomats, experts, as well as community and media leaders.

In addition to the Global Leaders Forum, the Indonesian delegation will also attend the Roundtable on Southeast Asian Economic and Trade, the High Level Discussion Forum, the US-Indonesia Strate-gic Forum, and also the high level conference.

HANKUK UNIV STUDENTS JOIN THE PROGRAM OF INDONESIAN LANGUAGE FOR FOREIGN SPEAKERS AT UNHASTwenty six students of Hankuk University, South Korea studied Indonesian language and culture through BIPA (Indonesian Language for Foreign Speakers) program hosted by Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Unhas. For fifteen days, these students studied various things, including Indonesian grammar, writing, reading, vocabulary.

They were also introduced the method of learning using smartphone. Furthermore, the participants conducted field study every Saturday.

At Bantimurung, Maros Regency, the students did various things such as observing butterflies and caves, and enjoying the natural beauty of Bantimurung waterfall. In the second study field held in Takalar Regency, they visited several tourism objects and the place of pottery making at Sandi village.

In another visit to Sombala Bella, the students saw the seaweed processing to be exported to Korea and Japan together with Head of Tourism Office of Takalar, Drs. Irwan Yunus; Dean of Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Prof. Dr. Akin Duli, M.A.; Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Dr.Fathu Rahman,M.Hum.; and Head of BIPA program, Dr.Munira Hasyim,S.S.,M. Hum. The students also went to Soreang village to see the activity of the pond farmers of milkfish and shrimp, and the Tope Java beach, one of the famous tourism spot in Takalar. At the end of this program, the Korean students performed traditional songs and dances at a farewell dinner arranged by UNHAS Rector’s team at Partnership Directorate

ASBAM INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE An international conference, Seminar Antarbangsa: Arkeologi, Sejarah, Bahasa, & Budaya di Alam Melayu (ASBAM) was conducted by Faculty of Cultural Sciences, UNHAS in collaboration with Institut Alam & Tamadun Melayu (ATMA) UKM, Malaysia & Univ Islam Al-Azhar, Mataram. The event was held in Mataram, Lombok & was attended by participants from Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunai Darussalam, Cambodia, Singapore, Netherland, and Thailand.




UNHAS RECTOR INAUGURATED 79 NEW OFFICIALS OF UNHAS

Universitas Hasanuddin held an official inauguration ceremony at the Rectorate Building, Tamalanrea Campus. This inauguration was held to replace former officials and to fill new positions with the total of 79 people.

These 79 officials consist of Vice Rectors, Deans, Vice Deans, Heads of Institutions, Directors, Quality Assurance team, & several structural positions at the faculty level.

Prof. Dr. Dwia Aries Tina in her speech said that the change of structural officials is a part of modern organizational manage-ment which requires responsive organizational dynamics. (original news on https://unhas.ac.id)

7th AGT Faculty of Economics and Business of Unhas conducts benchmarking at Chula-longkorn University Faculty of EconomicsAn international event was held at UNHAS by Arabic Department,

Faculty of Cultural Sciences in collaboration with Ikatan Pengajar Bahasa Arab se-Indonesia (Association of Arabic Language Teachers in Indonesia) Centre for the Arabic Language King Abdullah bin Abdul Azis Univ, and Center for Research and Intercommunication Knowledge, Saudi Arabia.

The program consisted of an International Seminar on Saudi Vision 2030 & a Training on Developing Skills of Teaching Arabic Language to Non-Native Speakers. The speakers were Prof. Dr. Ahmad al-Anzy, Prof. Najmuddin H. Abd. Safa, M.A., & Dr. Yusring Sanusi M. App.Ling.

INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON GENDER DEVELOPMENT 2018 & THE 4TH NATIONAL COORDINATION MEETING OF ASSOCIATION OF WOMEN/GENDER & CHILD PROTECTION STUDY CENTRE INDONESIA (ASWGI)

The Rector of UNHAS Professor Dwia Aries Tina welcomed the Minister of Women Empowerment & Child Protection, Prof. Yohana Susana Yembise at UNHAS. The minister attended the International

Conference on Gender Development 2018 (ICGD 2018) which was held in conjunction with the 4th national coordina-tion meeting of the Association of Women/Gender & Child Protection Study Centre Indonesia (ASWGI) at UNHAS. The participants of this event came from women and gender study centers from various public and private universities in Indonesia.

There were also many important figures of women and gender movement in Indonesia such as the head of ASWGI, Prof. Emy Susanti & the head committee of 4th National Coordination Meeting ASWGI, Prof. Rabina Yunus.

This event aims to expand thenetwork and increase knowledge & skills of participants to implement the 3 principles of higher institution in their respective campus.

POSTGRADUATE STUDENTS OF DUAL MASTER’S DEGREE IN COASTAL PLANNING JOIN AUSTRALIA AWARDS’ENRICHMENT PROGRAM

before completing their first year at Hasanuddin University followed by a year at Griffith Univ in Brisbane. The training course is designed to provide language support for awardees prior to their departure for Australia & enrollment in this split-site masters program.

The awardees will graduate with dual master’s degree from both Universities.
