1b. Next, John and Chieko want to send everyone an e-mail thanking them for their help. The problem is that they’re not sure about what each person did. Look at the two example below:
J: Did Amy take out the garbage?
C: No, it was Bill who took out the garbage. C: Did Diana sweep the kitchen floor?
J: No, it was Emily that swept the kitchen floor. Thus, we can use, “It was ~ who...” / “It was ~ that...” to emphasize or to clarify which person did what. Notice that the person’s name is stressed. Write 7 questions and answers like in the two examples above. You can use ‘who’ or ‘that’. For numbers 1 - 5, use the names on the left side. For numbers 6 and 7, you can choose which names to use. All your questions should start with “Did...” and all the answers should start with, “No, it was...” Try to write the person’s name a little larger to show emphasis.
