Year 9 and 10 students from deciles 5 and below schools

A way to give back to rural communities and increase the intake of rural students in the study of health

To encourage and foster student interest in health careers and in tertiary study

Visit each school every two years

17 Auckland Medical Students; 3 groups

The Program…10 minute presentation introducing

Grassroots, Auckland University and the health professions.

Focus on the pro’s of study and work in health

Focus on key issues affecting rural students and study

Workshops…10 minute stations on basic

anatomy and clinical skills4 Stations: - Anatomy - Blood Pressure &

Pulse - CPR - Reflexes

Engage students – let them go for it!

Feedback..Huge amount of positive feedback from

students, teachers and medical professionalsOver 300 students signed up
