Medicopaste® BandageMedicopaste® Bandage was developed by Paul Gerson Unna, a renowned dermatologist in Germany, who studied skin diseases and actively developed new therapies and medications for treatment of skin disorders.
What is Medicopaste® Bandage and what is it used for?
Medicopaste® Bandage consists of a paste with zinc oxide (skin healing ingredient) which is coated on gauze. Medicopaste® Bandage is a compression treatment which is most successfully used for the therapy of venous and lymphatic circulatory disturbances of a peripheral nature. There are four groups of peripheral venolymphatic disease (diseases of the soft tissues of the leg), which respond well to compression treatment:(1) Lymphatic edema (2) Thrombophlebitis of the superficial saphenous vessels (3) Eczema of the leg, and (4) Ulcer of the leg.
In addition, there are certain static conditions of the leg and foot which may respond favorably due to the compressive nature of Medicopaste® Bandage, such as post-fracture foot conditions and spastic weak foot conditions.
Are there any conditions Medicopaste® Bandage should not be utilized for?Medicopaste® Bandage is contraindicated in arterial vascular diseases.
How long has GF manufactured Medicopaste® Bandage?Graham-Field’s manufacturing history dates back to 1949, originally manufactured in New York by Graham-Field Surgical Co., Inc. and currently manufactured in Rhode Island by our wholly owned subsidiary GFCO, Inc.
How is Medicopaste® Bandage packaged?The Medicopaste® Bandage is produced in 3" and 4" widths and is 10 yards long. Medicopaste® Bandage is either pink or white in color.
What is the recommended application for Medicopaste® Bandage?
The Medicopaste® Bandage is wrapped around the desired area. Since the product is wet, another bandage is typically wrapped around the Medicopaste® Bandage. The dressing is kept on for approximately one week.
Medicopaste® Bandage provides flexible compression and has the benefit of having zinc oxide to heal skin and talc to absorb liquids from ulcers, which helps the ulcers to stay dry and heal quicker.
