A Flair for Hair: Side Parts!

Spring Hair Trends Part 1

Side Parts. They are everywhere on the runways for spring!

Wear them up, down, left, right, curly, straight, etc. The question is never

whether the side part is in, it is whether it is hot-and how to wear

it.First, Let’s look at the

two types of side parts!

Soft Side Part

This version of the part is elegant and girly. For those of you who want to just dip your toe in the water, or prefer the elegant side of things, this is for you!

To achieve this look seen at DKNY, start by blow drying your hair straight and smooth. Then part your hair above the arch of your eyebrow. Swoop the hair in front low and tuck it behind your ear. (You can pin for security) For the carefree texture here, twist the two side of your hair and lightly spray with hairspray, texture spray, or surf spray and set.

I absolutely love this look!

Deep Side PartFor the edgy, all-out version of

this hairstyle, you need to go deep. For an edgy, rocker vibe this look is the one for you

To achieve this look seen at Marc Jacobs, first blow dry hair stick straight or flat iron it. (You can absolutely do a different version of the deep side part with curly hair. This is simply for the look seen in the photo.) Part your hair at the tip of your eyebrow. Then, tease at the crown and messily pull hair back into a low ponytail.

As I said before, you can simply stop after parting your hair and style the part however you like.

So now that we

have seen what

kinds of side part there are, let’s talk

about styling them!

StylingSide parts are so universal! Everyone can

accomplish one, and there are a million ways to style them. Curly or straight. Waves or

ringlets. Up in a bun or down in a braid. The list goes on and on. So, I would just pair it with your favorite do’s to trendy up your look! So simple, right! Or you can go all

rocker chick and try an edgy style instead, if you want. Have fun doing it any way, your

way!
