Season is here. Welcome back everyone! It is going to be a busy season with a lot of events planned. The events can always use help from residents, both those who have been here for a while and new residents who learn the process for future years. From November 1 to April the pool heaters get turned on and we will need help with covering and uncovering the pool . This helps keep the water warmer during the cooler nights. Please consider volunteering for this service. If you are new and want emails about events and other happenings in Bayshore Village, please email Ginny Bowers at [email protected] requesting to be added to her list. A Bayshore Residents’ Guide to Dining Out

We asked our friends and neighbors at Bayshore Village to tell us where they like to eat out. Here is a list of restaurants recommended by them.

➢ The Gathering Place: Beacon Manor Rd. Fort Myers. This little breakfast and lunch place can be tricky

to find, so use a map or GPS. It is in the center of a former nursing home (now offices). They are open 8

AM until 3 PM, Monday through Saturday. Very informal and fun with the staff who interact with the

customers, prices are very reasonable. Breakfast ranges from an egg and cheese croissant at $3.50 to

breakfast plates of $8.50. Lunches range from soups at $4.00 to sandwiches for $7.50 and $9.00 for

specialty mac and cheese. And the desserts are all site made and are VERY good. A huge slice of cake

for $5.00 is our favorite takeout. -Bev Sierpina

➢ Buckingham Farm is on 12931 Orange River Blvd., Fort Myers, in a very rural area. It is a hydroponic

farm with a wonderful country store featuring (but not limited to) their own produce, and also a café

serving Tuesday through Saturday from 8 AM until 4 PM. There is a standard menu as well as daily

specials. Most breakfast menu items are between $5 and $10 and range from breakfast sandwiches, to

wraps and omelets. Lunches range from about $7 to $14 with such items as salads, sandwiches, crab

cakes, flatbreads, quesadillas. The store sells some of the customer favorites such as pies, chicken

salads and soups. There is a verandah to sit on to eat. It is a great place to eat and a lot of fun for

visitors to see ‘the other side of Florida’. -Bev Sierpina

➢ Square 1 Burgers – 5031 S Cleveland Ave, Fort Myers, FL 33907

Great burgers and best onion rings ever! – Carol Newman

➢ Twisted Lobster - 1341 Del Prado Blvd. S, Cape Coral, FL 33990

Great daily specials! – Carol Newman

➢ Laishley Crab House - 150 Laishley Court, Punta Gorda, FL 33950

Very good food! – Carol Newman

➢ Pete’s Fish & Chips - 311 Del Prado Blvd. S, Unit 5, Cape Coral, FL 33990

Good fish sandwich! -Carol Newman

➢ Jersey’s Sports Café- 13971 N. Cleveland Ave. North Fort Myers- Happy Hour Monday-Friday 3-7 PM.

Monday is ½ OFF pizza. Thursdays they have Cheeseburger & fries for only $5. – Carol Newman

➢ For dessert..we enjoy Daddy D’s Ice Cream Parlor at 13161 North Cleveland Ave, North Fort Myers.

Very clean and nice employees. You can eat in or outside…a few chairs outside. They are into trains

and have a track with moving trains toward the ceiling. (Located next to Sabor A Mexico…which is also

a good Mexican restaurant.) – Gary & Pam Tingley

➢ Brooks Restaurant- 4259 Hancock Bridge Parkway, North Fort Myers- Very good cheeseburger sliders

only $2 each on Wednesday night! – Cheech & JoMarie Faccioli

➢ Rosy Tomorrows Heritage Farm- 8250 Nalle Grade Rd. North Fort Myers-Open Thursday through

Sunday- Dinner is only available on Friday nights. Fabulous farm to table food – Cheech & JoMarie

Faccioli

➢ Saltwater Smokehouse- 10251 Stringfellow Rd. St. James City, FL (Pine Island)-Serving sandwiches,

burgers, baskets and entrees, priced from $10.95 to $23.95. There is outdoor seating available. The

mahi mahi and scallops are the best! They also serve smoked pork and beef dishes. – Sheri Hardin

➢ Beef Depot- 50 Pine Island Road, North Fort Myers (shopping center behind Twistee Treat-sign reads

“Subs”) Hole in the wall deli serving sandwiches that are built, not made, with fresh sliced quality

meats and cheeses. The owner is from Chicago and offers a Chicago beef sandwich and Chicago hot

dogs. The Dagwood sandwich looks like the one in the cartoon and is loaded with meat. Order at the

counter and eat at a high-top counter, at one of three tables or get it to go. You can’t beat the price for

what you get! Go for the food, not the atmosphere! -Tom & Karen Dunlap

➢ Twistee Treat- Our favorite place for ice cream in North Fort Myers. We love the vintage ice cream cone shaped building as much as the ice cream. The only seating is outdoors. Owned and operated by a husband and wife team, they keep the cost down by having no employees. We like both the scooped and softy ice cream here. Can’t beat the price and it tastes good too! – Tom & Karen Dunlap

➢ Clancy’s Restaurant- 11481 McGregor Blvd. Fort Myers- We LOVE this place. The new owner has had an uphill battle fighting the past reputation of the restaurant and its former owners. We hope he is successful. Great Irish Classics plus a new menu that includes seafood, chicken and steaks with an Irish flair. “…the vintage beer cans, antiques, old photos and license plates from visitors of every state of the union, all donated by Clancy’s friends and guests, line the wall of this warm, neighborhood restaurant.” Craft and imported beers available. Relaxed atmosphere and great food!! - Tom & Karen Dunlap

➢ Super Tacos – 1771 Many Rd. North Fort Myers- Reasonable pricing, made fresh while you wait Mexican food. – Mike & Ali Miller

➢ Thai Gardens- 7091 College Parkway, Fort Myers- Good authentic Thai food. Not close, but if you are going to Costco it’s on the way! – Mike & Ali Miller

➢ Peace River Seafood- 5337 Duncan Rd. Punta Gorda- Very “Old Florida” crab shack. Very busy. NO reservations. – Mike & Ali Miller

➢ Sweet Tomatoes - 14080 South Tamiami Trail, Fort Myers -Fresh salads, soups, and more. Hot foods,

breads, bakery, dessert, and various beverage sections. The food bar offerings may change. Delicious,

spacious, and fun. – Steve & Lisa Stelick (Lisa is Betty Hurst’s daughter, Pam Tingley’s sister and Linda

Stuttle’s niece)

➢ Culvers-309 SW Pine Island Rd, Cape Coral-Delicious pulled pot roast sandwich, awesome hamburgers

& great crinkle cut fries, seafood & chicken offerings, soups, salads, their own Root Beer and fantastic

custard, shakes, malts, and floats. Clean, spacious, friendly, so yummy. – Steve & Lisa Stelick

➢ Horsin’ Around Deli -10440 Bayshore Rd. N. Fort Myers-Breakfast & lunch. Fun and yummy food.

We've only been there for lunch. Same strip mall as Hogbody’s Bar & Grill)- Steve & Lisa Stelick

➢ Paradise Pizza is good. Good pizzas and salads. Address is 4085 Hancock Bridge Pkwy, corner of Orange

Grove and Hancock Bridge Pkwy. - Debby Adams

➢ Cristof’s on McGregor- Excellent- Bill Graham
