ADSL Overview• ADSL networks are made up of 3 distinct

segments:–The Loop Segment providing communication between

the customer premise equipment (DSL-Modem) and the exchange equipment (DSLAM).

–The Access Segment providing communication between the DSLAM at the access and the Aggregator located with the Region Broadband Provider.

–The Service Provider Segment providing communication between the Aggregator and the ISP.

• Connection and session information across each segment must be mapped in order to provide the linkage between IP address and location.
