Thanks to you all these little bright eyes will now live to see another day with the promise of a happy future ahead. From the Yorkshire dog pound, the Northern Ireland destruction centres, they came, reprieved from imminent destruction. From the Liverpool dog wardens, the RSPCA, via the police, social services, vet centres and the street of Merseyside. These hopeless cases were saved. We offered comfort, food and love but your donations gave them a future. Not one of these sad, unfor- tunate dogs deserved to die and yet without exception, each was condemned from the young to the old. All had owners who had forsaken them, but we know that there are good people who will offer homes. This is just the tip of the iceberg but if we, a small animal sanctuary, can save these lives why can’t the pounds or larger organisations? It’s not easy but with determination and faith IT CAN BE DONE. From all the bright eyes everywhere especially those in our care, thanks for being there. Thanks to you all these little bright eyes will now live to see another day with the promise of a happy future ahead.

We have never experienced such huge numbers of abandoned dogs and cats in the history of our Sanctuary. We are paying privately to board some of them to save more lives. Dog pounds all over the country are overwhelmed with large numbers. Not

only Staffordshire Bull Terriers, but Collies, Labs and X Breeds. The poor cats are being abandoned on the streets, many heavily pregnant. Why should a healthy dog or cat be destroyed? It’s an absolute disgrace! It’s time the authorities set up a

practice to solve this problem. We will not destroy a healthy animal or condone it’s destruction. We are so sad that other rescue organisations in our area are putting healthy animals to sleep. They don’t deserve this.

There are good homes out there, even for the poor Staffies. Many people see beyond the bad press and understand how worthy these dogs are. Ryan (above) had lost the will to live. He is now a happy boy.

We have proven this and given time and money we can save many more lives. It is you, our good friends, who read this newsletter who give so much already. We are asking you to spread the word and

encourage others to give or collect pet food for us. Perhaps, offer a temporary home to a sad dog or cat. We have run out of funds, even though we work tirelessly and we worry about paying the bills and the vet fees,

but we cannot and will not let the animals down. We are fundraising on a bigger scale than ever before. We do something almost every week and do not rely on handouts.

We urgently need to refurbish cat pens and rabbits runs and improve the accommodation for the dogs, as many of them are spending longer that ever before in kennels. They are all happy, walked, well fed and loved.

But they crave a home and the love of an owner. They deserve the best that we can give them.

Any gift or donation you can spare really will save a life. Every penny given is spent on the animals. We are desperate for tinned pet food. Regular donations by direct debit can ensure our future and save lives.

If 500 people gave £3.00 a month the total of £18,000 per annum would have a huge impact on the lives of vulnerable animals. Please help us meet our target.

SPECIAL SOS RAFFLE—We have enclosed 2 books of raffle tickets for this draw. If you can sell more, please let us know.

We are still running the Poundie lottery each month if you wish to be entered.

A sad farewell to a special friend Bill Rice. Bill was an

ardent supporter and lover of animals and a benefactor of

Animals In Need. Bill was very keen for us to have our

special Care Unit up and running and we are so sad we

couldn’t achieve this while he was alive. Sadly Bill passed

away on Wednesday 1st June after a long, hard battle with

illness. He was only 62 and is greatly missed by his partner

Glenys and Greyhound Flash and all his friends at Animals

In Need. The world is a poorer place without him. Our

heartfelt condolences to Glenys and the following words are

from her.

“Now we’ve separated

And for a time apart,

But I am not alone—

You’re forever in my heart.” Flash

We welcome Sponsorship for

some of our more permanent

residents. Our geese Ken,

Barbie and Cindy, our flock

of friendly hens who all

provide lovely eggs to be

used for cakes for our

fundraising fairs. Skippy the

goat and our 2 rescued sheep

Fred & Molly are enjoying

the lush summer grass, but

love a biscuit as a treat.

Please can you sponsor them.

We are desperate for tinned dog and cat food, rabbit food, bread, biscuits, cooked meat and tinned fish.
