a. Watch the power point presentation of some children playing.b. Orally answer the questions that will be asked about the pictures within 5 minutes.

2. Teacher asks for students’ feedback to make sure that they understand what they are supposed to do.

3. Students give their feedback.

4. Students watch the power point presentation displayed by the teacher.

5. Students answer the questions orally.(see the activity)

6. Students are asked to answer their questions voluntarily.

7. Teacher responds to students’ answers and introduces them to the topic of the lesson “Give Us Space to Run and Play”. They will listen to a conversation between two persons regarding safe place for children to play.

1. Write an informal letter to a pen-pal based on the words and phrases given in the worksheet 2.

2. Attempt the task individually.

3. If they are not able to finish it in 15 minutes, take it as homework.

Worksheet 1- Listening TranscriptMrs Lee: I’m worried for our children in this neighborhood. They are exposed to danger as I often see them chasing one another along the roadside.

Puan Aishah: Yes, I get worried too. When I see the children playing by the roadside, I’m afraid the cars or motorcycles might hit them. They always tell me they’ll be careful but the motorists may not drive carefully or slowly. By the time they step on the brakes, it’s too late. Accidents can happen.

Mrs Lee: You’re right, Puan Aishah. The children should play in the playground. But my children tell me that the playground is unmanageable. The swing is wreck and the grass is haven’t been cut for quite a while.

Puan Aishah: I think we should suggest to the neighborhood community to carry out a ‘gotong-royong’. We could clear up the playground so that the children have more space to play and run.

Mrs Lee: Good! I will suggest that in our next neighborhood meeting. Do you know that many parents allow their children to play badminton just outside the gate? Usually one of them is inside the compound while the other is outside. I don’t think this is a good idea. That’s why I enroll my children for badminton classes in the town hall.

Puan Aishah: Oh, that’s a great idea! When the classes held?

Mrs Lee: Every Saturday. Are your children interested?

Puan Aishah: I suppose so but I’ll have to ask them first.
