CONOR BYRNE (WRITER/DIRECTOR) graduated from Wesleyan University’s film program with High Honors, where his thesis film won the Stephen J. Ross prize for Best Film and the Frank Capra award for comedy. Conor is a National Board of Review grant awardee, and a recent recipient of the IFP/Sony Pictures Classics Marcie Bloom Fellowship in Film. His passion for cinema was revealed at a young age; as a 3-year-old, Conor Halloween-ed as both the Errol Flynn version of Robin Hood (before lunch, with pencil-thin mustache), as well as Kevin Costner's Robin Hood (after lunch, sans ‘stache). Nowadays, he watches a lot of movies.

TYLER BYRNE (PRODUCER) started his career in front of the camera as the face of Kix Cereal. His Wesleyan University thesis film, Extension, premiered at the 2010 GenArt Film Festival in New York City and has been championed by the international Type 1 diabetes community as an inspirational and educational tool. After working with acclaimed writer/director Neil Burger, Tyler has gone on to produce branded content, music videos and award-winning short films that have played at festivals throughout the country. Most recently, he co-produced indie thriller Blue Ruin, which played at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival where it received the International Critics Award, and has since played at TIFF 2013, Sundance 2014 and is being released by RADiUS-Weinstein Company.

BRUDDER FILMS is us: TYLER & CONOR BYRNE. We became Brudders when Tyler was 2 and Conor was born. We were reared in the wilds of northern Jersey, studied film at Wesleyan, and nowadays we make movies together across The George in NYC. We are particularly interested in telling stories with a custom blend of comedy, pathos, and artifice, and we’re perpetually fascinated by the wonderland that is Suburban America.

I’ve been an eyeglasses-wearer since the tender age of two. My mom caught the emergence of a lazy eye when I was watching TV, and after a short stint in an eyepatch, I landed in a pair of tiny clear plastic frames with rubber wrap-around arms. Stylish. Too young to really feel anxiety over the arrival of my specs, I embraced it all, and my bespectacledness has since become an essential part of me. Alas, I did get conked in the nose by a pop fly some years later, but I was just a bad right fielder. Eyeglasses aside, however, I was no stranger to feeling inherently marked and anxiety-stricken during the period just before puberty. Your body is starting to change, and you’re suddenly aware that there’s this big thing out there, but you’re not sure what it is or how it works. There’s certainly intense curiosity – but there’s also fear of the unknown. The looming question of “Am I Normal?” hangs in your head.

In FOUREYES, this phenomenon is externalized as Bobby’s eyeglasses. Bobby is a kid who is starting to discover his own sexuality – a concept that he feels drawn to, mystified by, and perhaps even afraid of in the most exciting way. The swimsuit issue he’s lusting after is a magical bounty that he’s naturally attracted to: boobs, butts, beaches, and otherworldly excitement. Therein lies endless bliss. At the same time, however, there’s a lot more that Bobby can’t really see - or understand - yet. That rogue little league pop fly seems to drop from the heavens and choose him; Bobby is suddenly thrust into a freakish process of overwhelming realization. The arrival of his eyeglasses is the catalyst to his natural journey – one wrought with moments of wide-eyed wonderment, near-insanity, and eventual self-discovery. We catch Bobby at the fateful juncture at which awe and insecurity collide.

FOUREYES is a psychological comedy about suburban puberty. Our goal was to make a film with a conscious level of cheeky stylization, a distinctly subjective POV, and a lot of heart. Clear artifice without sacrificing emotion. FOUREYES aims to thrust the viewer into a unique, vivid world in which swimsuit issue ecstasy lies just down the hallway and an eyeglasses collection bin stares deeply into your soul.
