SHELOWHoward Leonard Shelow was born January 7,1932 to David Shelow and Sophie Meyers inPhiladelphia, PA. A 1949 Laureati Honor So-ciety Member as a West Philadelphia HighSchool graduate; and, a 1953 Dean's ListWharton School , University of Pennsylvaniamoved to Estero, Florida in 1991. In Florida,Mr. Shelow maintained a most successful taxpreparation organization, under the leader-ship of CEO Edward Wierzbowski since 1978,which enjoyed prestige and the height of ac-complishment for nearly forty years. Beforerelocating in Estero, Florida, Mr. Shelowserved as controller for Jade Electronics inTrevose, Pennsylvania from 1975 to 1991 forwhich he was solely responsible for the phe-nomenal thriving growth enjoyed by the cor-poration moving to its present location at 275Andrews Road. Mr. Shelow was the mentorof many of the Jade employees who turned tohim and relied on him for guidance. Mr. Shel-ow was a jacket all trades and a master of allof them, and it did not take long for the JadeOrganization to move from the second floorof 3507 Kensington Avenue to 410B Clear-view Avenue and 275 Andrews Road. HowardShelow will be missed by all the Jade person-nel to which he added dimension. Mr. Wi-erzbowski served as his health surrogate andcaregiver and was visited yearly in Octoberby Mr. Shelow's niece, Debbie Leonardo ofEgg Harbor Township, NJ to be with and cel-ebrate with her uncles Howard and Ed andnephew Skippy. We enjoyed Debbie's Tues-day, Thursday and Saturday speaker phonecalls which included from the serious to thesublime and from meaningful discussion ofGrand dogs to the meaningless chatter ofhow the morning coffee might turn out. Thequantity of Mr. Shelow's friends were lessthan the digits of one hand; but, the quality ofMr. Shelow's friends made up more thansheer numbers could represent. Many triedto emulate what Mr. Shelow and Mr. Wi-erzbowskia accomplished; but failed becausethe honesty and integrity of the dual purposewas artificial and served an ulterior motive.During the years, Mr. Shelow failed to realizethat many who came across as his friends, were not friends and failed to keep in touchwith him after their purpose was accom-plished. These people know who they are andhave to live with their own conscience untilthey reach the point were I am today.

“My father has taught me – as hisfather taught him – thatproviding meticulous service andpersonal attention is not a matterof choice. It is an obligation thatI have to our community. Lifeisn’t about living for yourself. It’sabout helping the less fortunate, contributing to the quality of life

enjoyed by the entire community and demonstrating a commitment totzedakah. As did each member of the Levine family before me, I measuresuccess by the feeling that comes with doing something to help comfort others.A simple thank you is the ultimate reward.

L’dor, V’dor. It’s who we are. It’s what I am. Now in its fifth generation offamily ownership, Joseph Levine & Sons continues to ensure that thememories of our loved ones live on in our hearts.” eniveL nairB–

Judaism isn’t just what we believe, or the prayers we recite or the laws weobserve. It’s also about the way we live. How we interact with others. Thevalues we practice. The customs and traditions we embrace and pass down, from one generation to the next.
