Part 2 Two charity men

“Are there no prison?”; “And the union workhouse?”; “The treadmill and the Poor Law in full vigour?”;”…decrease the surplus population.”

He reject the two charity men’s asking for donation for the poor.

Part 3 His clerk, Bob “It’s not convenient,…I’ll be bound?”

He grudgingly agree on Bob’s Christmas leave.

Key quote 1: “If I could wok my will,” … “every idiot who goes about with ‘Merry Christmas’ on his lips, should be boiled with his own pudding, and buried with a stake of holly through his heart. He should!”
