Prayer of Adoration

Confession

Anthem of Confession I’m Gonna Sing ‘Til the Spirit Moves in My HeartMoses HoganI’m gonna sing ‘til the Spirit moves in my heart; I’m gonna sing ‘til Jesus comes. It was grace that brought me, it was grace that taught me, it was grace that kept me, and it’s grace that will lead me home. I’m gonna pray ‘til the Spirit moves in my heart. Can’t you feel the Spirit moving? I’m gonna shout ‘til the Spirit moves in my heart, oh, my Jesus.

Call to Confession

Corporate Prayer of ConfessionEternal God, in every age You have raised up men and women to live and die in faith. We confess that we are sometimes indifferent to Your will. You call us to proclaim Your name, but we are silent. You call us to do what is just, but we remain idle. You call us to live faithfully, but we are afraid. In Your mercy, forgive us, and give us courage to follow You as the Way.

Prayers of the People and The Lord’s Prayer Our Father Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.

Sermon Polishing His Crown The Reverend Dr. Ronald W. Scates Senior Pastor

Response

Offering of God’s Tithes and Our Sacrificial Gifts

Anthem Come, Ye Thankful People, Come Mack Wilberg, arr.Come, ye thankful people, come, raise the song of harvest home:All is safely gathered in, ere the winter storms begin;God, our Maker, doth provide for our wants to be supplied:Come to God’s own temple, come, raise the song of harvest home.

All the world is God’s own field, fruit unto his praise to yield;Wheat and tares together sown, unto joy or sorrow grown;First the blade, and then the ear, then the full corn shall appear:Lord of harvest grant that we wholesome grain and pure may be.

For the Lord, our God, shall come, and shall take his harvest home; From his field shall in that day all offenses purge away;Give his angels charge at last in the fire the tares to cast,But the fruitful ears to store in his garner evermore.

Even so, Lord, quickly come to thy final harvest-home;Gather thou thy people in, free from sorrow, free from sin; There, forever purified, in thy presence to abide:Come with all thine angels, come, raise the glorious harvest home.

Doxology

Prayer of Dedication

Affirmation of Faith The Apostles’ Creed I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, And in Jesus Christ His only Son our Lord; Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead and buried; He descended into hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.

Worship Notes

The Feast of Christ the KingThe Feast of Christ the King is both the Last Sunday After Pentecost and the last Sunday of the Christian year. It occurs between November 20 and November 26, most often on the Sunday before Thanksgiving. Worship services for the day focus on Jesus Christ as Sovereign Lord and on the consummation of human history under his divine rule. Christ the King brings to a joyous conclusion the long period of ordinary time, sometimes called “Kingdomtide,” that spans the summer and most of the fall. White is the liturgical color for the Feast of Christ the King.

“Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”- Philippians 2:9-11
