This will be a special summer of political coverage on WOSU TV. Now in its eleventh season, Columbus on the Record will celebrate its 500th episode in July. When it debuted in January, 2006, Columbus on the Record was the only local political show on Columbus broadcast TV. Hosted by Emmy® award-winning moderator Mike Thompson, Columbus on the Record has become must-watch TV for political junkies and civic leaders around Ohio. The show, with its diverse group of panelists, provides thoughtful and balanced analysis of central Ohio’s top stories. “The key to the show is our panelists, all of them volunteers,” says Thompson who serves as WOSU’s Chief Content Director for News and Public Affairs. “Their experience, passion and civility sets Columbus on the Record apart from other shows.”

Just as Columbus on the Record celebrates its milestone, Republicans will gather in Cleveland and Democrats in Philadelphia for their national conventions. For the first time PBS and NPR will jointly produce coverage of both events. NPR reporters will be seen on WOSU TV and PBS NewsHour reporters will be heard on 89.7 NPR News. “Our combined resources across the PBS NewsHour and NPR represent some of the most experienced political reporters and analysts in the country,” says Sara Just, Executive Producer of the PBS NewsHour. “By creating a stronger collaboration, our television viewers, radio listeners, and millions online and on social media will benefit.”

WOSU Public Media is the place for campaign coverage in this historic and closely watched election season.
