There is back and forth communication between teacher and student in the form of a blog.

The teacher posts a comment, and students can reply to it. The post can be made in the general forum, or assigned to a specific group.

Likewise, students can reply to the teacher, or to their fellow peers. (This aspect also supports project collaboration).
