High-resolution spectral imagingA breakthrough in remote chemical image analysis developed in space, solving problems on earth
Hindsight Imaging, IncThe U.S. Navy needed to remotely analyze the chemical composition of space objects. High resolution is required to identify the chemical make-up of an object and the required spectrometer is large and heavy. Further, conventional spectrometers only acquire spectra, not images. To acquire a chemical image of a large body requires taking thousands of narrow image slices, one at a time, then fitting them together like a puzzle. This is slow and introduces many potential inaccuracies.
In 2013, Dr. Arsen Hajian, an astrophysicist at the USNO, invented and patented a new advanced optical design for a hyperspectral imager that converts the entire range from UV-to IR at high resolution (0.5 nm) while using 98% of the reflected energy to create high quality spectral image data. Now Hindsight Imaging is bringing this technology to you for the analysis of: liquids, solids or gases.

The advanced patented, high-throughput virtual slit (HTVS™) design is capable of providing high-resolution and high-sensitivity all at the same time from a compact system. Unlike a conventional slit scanning system or
simple CCD arrays, where the slit and large size optics determines the resolution and sensitivity. The HTVS provides 98% of spectral light at 0.5 nm resolution at all wavelengths.

Point-and-click chemical imagingIf you can see it you can correct it
Why is the coating coming off?A single scan from Hindsight’s hand-held imaging system captures visual and chemical map of the image. Conventional hand-held’s do not form an image. Hindsight’s point and click solution has the performance of a spectrometer 28 times larger so you get the high performance necessary to see and solve the most complex problems in a single click.
The hand-held analysis system captures a chemical image of a large areaSpectral data at each spatial pixel helps to understand and visualize difficult problems. The middle spectrum is characteristic of the delaminating area, and can be used to determine the cause of the delamination.
