About the 9 th ISAIF The International Symposium on Experimental and Computational Aerothermodynamics of Internal Flows (ISAIF) was organized in China, in 1990 with the intention of encouraging scientific and technical cooperation and exchange between Asian and European countries. It is now extended to all the continents around the world. The symposium presents the most recent developments in experimental and computational researches as well as industrial and technological advances in the fields of fluid dynamics and aerothermodynamics. The symposiums were originally held every three years. Since 1999, the regulation has been changed to every two years not only to activate the scientific and technical communication but also to promote the friendship of members. The next 9 th ISAIF will be held on September 8- 11, 2009 in GyeongJu that is a city and the most prominent tourist destination in South Korea. It is the great pleasure of the local committee members to be appointed for this very challenging task. We would like to arrange the 9 th ISAIF in order to reach the high professional standards as all previous successful symposiums. - 1st : 1990, Beijing (China) - 2nd : 1993, Prague (Czech Republic) - 3rd : 1996, Beijing (China) - 4th : 1999, Dresden (Germany) - 5th : 2001, Gdansk (Poland) - 6th : 2003, Shanghai (China) - 7th : 2005, Tokyo (Japan) - 8th : 2007, Lyon (France) - 9th : 2009, GyeongJu (Korea) - 10th : 2011, Brussels (Belgium) The symposium language is English. It is expected that the symposium will attract many participants from all over the world. The main goal of the ISAIF is to review recent progress achieved in internal fluid dynamics and aerothermodynamics to facilitate the exchange of results and hold discussions on major fluid flow problems among scientists and engineers in these fields. The symposium organizers would like to promote a broad cooperation and exchange of new ideas between specialists in order to consolidate recent advances in the academic knowledge of internal fluid and heat flow dynamics and the industrial processes involved. Technical Scope Internal fluid dynamics and aerothermodynamics are very important in turbomachinery, aircraft propulsion & power engineering and power plant but also in bio-sciences and in many diverse branches of industry such as chemical and process engineering. Scientists and engineers are cordially invited to attend this symposium and to submit technical papers for oral presentation. The organizers welcome papers in the following categories : - Flows in compressors and turbines, intakes, nozzles/ diffusers and channels.

- Transonic and supersonic flows - Compressible flows and gas dynamics - Computational fluid dynamics - Fluid machinery and industrial fluid mechanics - Flow control and measurement - Unsteady flows and aeroacoustics - Flows with heat and mass transfer - Micro and nano thermo-fluid dynamics - Multi-phase and reacting flows - Unsteady flows and rotating flows

Plenary and special speakers will be invited to address the symposium and some special sessions on recent issues concerning internal fluid dynamics and aerothermodynamics are also planned.

Paper Submission & Proceedings Extended abstract of two A4 pages should be submitted electronically and uploaded on the symposium website (www.isaif9.org). Detailed relevant information (author name, affiliation, address and email) must be submitted, together with the extended abstract. Guidelines for the preparation of paper will be informed through the symposium website. Acceptance of the paper will be based on the extended abstract. If the paper is accepted, the authors are requested to submit a full paper (4pages), according to the schedule. Selected papers from those contributed to the 9th ISAIF will be published in “Journal of Thermal Science”. All papers presented in the symposium will be published in the form of a CD-ROM disc, including high-resolution animations. These will be made available at the symposium, together with Book

of Abstract.
