The medal ceremony The medals were awarded by Björn ROINE – president European Deaf Sports Organisation, supported by Jan van den BRAEMBUSSCHE and Cathy SCHELVIS.

Pluses of the organization

- Cooperation TDs volleyball and the OC was good. - The Live stream videos of the matches were very excellent. - The results were published quickly on www.volley-sourd.fr/paris2015/en - The results were printed at the end of the day and checked by the TDs – good team work! - From the first day until the last day there were exciting matches. The skills level is raised,

especially that of the women - it increased spectacularly! This proves that the countries are doing well.

- Also the women teams played their pool matches in the big hall to improve the equality between men and women.

- There were enough referees, line judges and scorers (in total 17), the most of them leaded the matches well. Three of them were deaf – an increase from 1 referee in EC 2011. The level of all the referees ranged from D (national top) to A.

Problems

- During the first days It was very hot in the halls because of the extreme high temperatures outside and the lack of air conditioning inside.

- There was not a private car with a driver available for the EDSO delegates, they travelled with the cars or buses of the OC committee members.

- Prior to Medal Ceremony there was a conflict of interests with the OC about the way to follow which Medal protocol: the EDSO’s one or that of FFH. The live stream video had a major role in the course of the ceremony, so it provided a big discussion one hour before the ceremony started.

- The OC forgot to award the diplomas to the places 1 to 6 during the Medal Ceremony. CONCLUSION

- In the field of sport terms regarding the volleyball skills level and organizational, it was the best EC so far.

- EDSO and OC need to take more attention for the preparation of the Medal ceremony the next time, the OC must follow the EDSO protocol.

- For the first time the TDs introduced the penalties fees. The fines are very high! No less than € 1.185,= during the EC and € 6.000,= prior to the EC (withdrawal Germany and Slovenia Women) were recorded.

- With a total of 33 Yellows Cards (Men 18, Women 15) and 7 Red Cards (6 Men, Women 1) the athletes were punished by the referees. There were no penalties by Red+Yellow cards together/separately.
