TheCoolingOptimizationPackageincorporates
GEsadvancedtechnologywhichisbasedonakeen
understandingofthephysicsoftheentire9FAgasturbine
coolingsystem.GEengineersfromaroundtheworldfocused
ontheturbinesoperationalenvironment,whichincludes
ambientconditions,loadrangesandstartsequencing,to
developthisnewpackage.Thepackageofferscustomers
improvedoutputandefficiencybymoreeffectivelymanaging
thetemperatureandvolumeofcoolingairflow,minimizing
pressuredropsanddiminishingtheeffectofturbine
clearances.
ReducedEmissionsEconomicandregulatoryrequirementsareplacinggreater
pressureontheoperationofgasturbines.Higherfuelprices
aredrivingagreatercyclicoperationandincreasingemission
requirementsarepressuringtheamountoftimeaturbine
mayoperate.

SystemfromGEEnergyhasprovidedcustomersincreased
operationalflexibilityatareducedcostofoperation.This
enhancedsystembuildsupondecadesofGEcombustion

OpFlexExtendedTurndownprovidinglowemissionoperationalflexibility
TheOpFlexExtendedTurndownPackageextendsthe
operatingrangeatwhichemissionslevelscanbemaintained
atlowerloadlevelsbyincreasinggasturbineturndown
capability.Byreducingtheminimumturndownlevel,
operatorsareabletoreducetheamountoffuelconsumed
duringoff-peakhoursandavoidshutdown/start-upcosts.
Thepackagealsominimizesmaintenancerequirements
associatedwithshutdownsandallowsthecustomerto
respondtoshortdemandsforelectricity.

needformanualcombustorretuning.Thisenhancement
usesthenext-generationofGEsModelBasedControl.The
newControlSystemprovidesmorestabilizedcombustion
characteristicssocustomerscancapitalizeonawiderange
ofambientconditionsandfuelvariationswithoutanysystem
instabilities,maintenanceimpactsorincreaseinemissions.
