Vincentian Meditation: Simplicity “is the virtue I love most.” In St. Vincent’s eyes, Jesus is utterly simple—like a child. He speaks the truth. He says things as they are. His intentions are pure, referring all things in life to God.
To St. Vincent, simplicity meant genuineness and transpar-ency. Vincent always knew that all good comes from God and he acknowl-edge his own limitedness and sinfulness. Vincent lived with an exu-berant confidence in God’s forgiveness and love.” (Maloney, Go! On the Missionary Spirituality of St. Vincent, p. 131-132)

Holy Family by Giovanni Balestra
Heavenly Father, thank you for the gift of our family. Enlighten our hearts and minds that we may live more fully this vocation to love.
In our daily life and work, may we reflect the self-giving love which you,
O Father, eternally show with your Son and the Holy Spirit.
Let your love be evident in the peace that reigns in our home and in the faith we profess and live. May our family always be a place of generosity,
understanding, forgiveness and joy. Kindly give us the wisdom and courage
to be witnesses to your eternal design for the family; and grant that the Holy Family
of Nazareth may always guide our path to holiness as a family.
We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the
unity of the Holy Spirit, one God forever and ever. Amen.
TOWARD HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS From the beginning of creation, God intended for peo-ple to live together in relationship with one another. Much of scripture shows us how to do this as it illustrates and clarifies God’s plans. The readings this weekend guide us in the value and care of our relationships. Specifically, the Gospel focuses on the circumstances of failed relation-ships. Unlike the Pharisees, we would do well not to focus on the laws that pertain to failed relationships, but concen-trate instead on what God really intended for us. Healthy bonds require a lot of our time and energy. They certainly require trust and honesty. Jesus demonstrated a deep com-mitment to his friends and to us. As our brother, he gave his very life for us. Children work hard at friendships. They trust, forgive, and love without conditions. The final words of today’s Gospel invite us to welcome Jesus and the people of our relationships with the fresh enthusiasm of a child.

Pro-Life of St. William is dedicating the month of October to collect clothing and supplies to make baby baskets for babies who were saved from abortion. All baskets are given to the Real Life Crisis Pregnancy Centers of Marshall County to distribute to mothers who have need. Last year we made 25 of these baskets. The Center ran out of baskets in August and we quickly made additional baskets in hopes they would last them through the year. Note, more baby baskets means more mothers chose life. The baby baskets are designed to include items they need in the first 3 months of life.
We are committed to making 35 baby baskets for the year 2016. Each basket costs $175- $200.
We are taking a two-fold approach this year. There will be a baby basket on the Pro-Life table in the vestibule which will contain leaves with items written on them. You can take your choice of items you would like to buy. Additionally, we will have envelopes in all the pews. The envelopes will list the items that each basket contains and which we have a great need for. If you wish to buy a baby item you can reference this list. We know that many of you are busy and being able to place cash or simply write a check is easier for you that buying baby items. We also hope men will feel more comfortable with this process. We are grateful for any amount that you wish to contribute to help us pay for all these items.

—Fray Gilberto Cavazos-Glz, OFM, Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.
