The river Orsang originates at Ratanmahal hills in

Ratanmahal forest of Chhota Udepur district at an

elevation of 370m above msl and flows towards

South-West direction till its confluence with Narmada

river at Chandod-Karnali in Dabhoi Taluka in

Vadodara District of Gujarat.

The river Orsang fertile the Chhota Udepur, Vadodara

and a small area of Narmada district of Gujarat.

The Orsang drains more than 70% is in Chhota

Udepur district.

The total length of the river from its origin to the

confluence with Narmada river is 104 km.

The Orsang Irrigation Scheme is the only major

project in the catchment areas of the river basin.

17. Width and Condition of access road (Kutcha/pucca) to the lease area

The nearest pucca road is Bodeli-Chhota Udepur Road within 0.8 Km in north Direction from the mine area. The approachable way from Gandhinagar is Gandhinagar -Ahmedabad-Vadodara- Champaner–Bodeli - Modasar.

DETAILS ON MINING/EXCAVATION ACTIVITIES

18. Type of mining (Manual/Semi-

Mechanized/Mechanized).

Mining operations were proposed by Semi-

mechanized open cast method with use of

Hydraulic excavator for loading of sand.

19. Equipment’s to be used (bulldozers,

Hydraulic Excavators, JCB, Scraper,

Loader, Diesel Pump, Etc.)

• Hydraulic excavator is used for production

of sand.

• Trucks and loader is dumpers are used or

transportation of sand.

20. Minimum Setback Distance From

River bank (Meters)

Minimum Setback Distance From River bank is

maintaining up to 30-40m.

21. Minimum Buffer Distance From

Bridge piers/Water intake

wells/irrigation Structures

As per mining rules the minimum buffer distance

to be maintained is 500m from Bridge

piers/Water intake wells/irrigation Structures.

All the above said structures are more than 500m

away from lease area.

22. Minimum Distance of

Stockpiles/Vehicle loading place

from the river bank

Minimum Distance of stockpiles/vehicle loading

place from the riverbank is 30m

23. Maximum depth of sand removal (3

m or water depth whichever is less)

Proposed pit limit will 3m from the river bed level

as per mining rules.

24. Manpower Requirement • The managerial supervisory staff will be

employed on merit basis and workers will

be employed from local village.

• This mining project directly generates the

employment for the local people and

indirectly for the others.

• In the mining area 4 to 5 Peoples are

based on direct employment.

• It’s directly attached to the mine like site

handling, loading, Etc.

• In the indirect employment 6 to 7

employees needed for excavator,

dumpers, tippers, technically work etc.

This entire staff is based on contract

bases.

• Therefore, the proposed employment shall

be 10 to 12 persons in this Ordinary sand

Mining Project.

25. No. of working days in a year Mining activity is closed in monsoon

season. At that time river water is fully

cover the mine area. So mining activity will

break at that time. The mining activity will

be carried out between October to June.

Mining Duration will be based on weather

condition. Therefore total working days in

a year will be 230 to 270.(Approx.)

26. No. of Working Hours in a day All mining operation will be done in day

period.

 8 hours in a day

ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT PLAN

27. Measures proposed for protection

of environmental attributes like

riverbed, riverbed vegetation, water,

air, Human health, etc.

- Vehicles should not be overloaded and covered

with tarpaulin.

- Post project plantation will have positive impact

on environment.

- Approach road and lease area should be

sprinkled with water at regular interval to control

dusting.

- Regular health checkup of workers and first aid

kit is also available in the rest room of mine.

- Project proponent will organize regular medical

checkup camps and recreational activities.

28. Details on transportation route &

measures proposed for control of

fugitive emission during

transportation.

- Regular control of fugitive dust emissions from

all the sources. Regular water sprinkling on haul

road will be suppressing the dust particles.

- Truck mounted water tanker is being used for

dust suppression during mining and

transportation.

- The dust emission will be controlled by adopting

suitable measures like water sprinkling,

plantation & maintaining roads.

- There will be insignificant emission due to use

of diesel during transportation and vehicular

movement. Proper maintenance of vehicles and

machineries reduce the diesel consumption and

there by emissions.

29. Details on transportation route

area/road sides in at least 20% of

lease area, numbers & types of

species and budgetary outlay for

the same.

- On the transportation route numbers of species

are available on both sides of the roads.

- Local plant species will be planted on riparian

zone.

- Proposed green belt development will be

creating elegant environment surrounding area.

30. Plan for restoration/reclamation. This project is open cast mining project. No drilling

or blasting is required in the sand mining. No

permanent damage to the riverbed.

Proposed pit limit will 3m from the river bed level.

River itself replenish with sediment during monsoon

season.

So, reclamation plan will not be required at mine

site.
