    Actifo - Package Plant

The pre-engineered Actio system is a compact standard pack-

age plant or drinking water, process water and wastewater

treatment. The process is a highly efcient and well proven clari-

cation technology, which uses microsand ballast that unctions as

a seed, enhancing oc ormation and settling

    THE TECHNOLOGY

Actio is a proven clarication technology. The Actio process

uses microsand ballast that unctions as a seed, enhancing oc

    ormation and settling.

Operation principle: Raw water enters the coagulation tank,

where coagulation and efcient mixing are used to destabilise

suspended solids and colloidal matter. Microsand is then added in

the injection tank and efciently mixed into the water volume.

The treatment continues as the water ows to the maturation

tank, where polymer is added and where conditions are ideal or

the ormation o ocs by polymer bridges between the microsand

and the destabilized suspended solids. The ully ballasted ocs

settle out rapidly in the lamellar settler and are removed rom

the treated water. The water then passes through the lamellar

with high rise rates or nal polishing. Typically 60 m/h or drin-

king water and process water and 120 m/h or wastewater.

The settled ocs are pumped to the hydrocyclones, where the

microsand and the sludge are separated. The microsand returns

to the process, while the sludge is discharged.

High microsand solids loading stabilizes the process when the

ow rate, turbidity or temperature uctuates rapidly. Deten-tion time is very short and the response to changes in chemical

dosage is very rapid (5-10 minutes), allowing the process to reach

a steady operational state in less than 15-30 minutes.

The Actio Package Plant tanks are available in epoxy coated

steel, stainless steel or glass fbre armed polyester (GAP).

Being modular allows multiple tank/line designs and easy uture

    expansion.

For drinking water or process water, clarifed water turbidity is normally

reduced to 0.5 NTU or less at rise rates

in the lamellar settler between 40-75

    m/h. For wastewater/CSO, the reduction

    is normally 85-95% o SS, 50-60% o

COD and 85-95% o P at rise rates in the

    lamellar settler between 80-150 m/h.
