91 year old, Viola J. Jonkman of Wheatfield, passed away November 12, 2018. On July 7, 1927, Viola was born to Dick and Dorothy (Eenigenburg) Schoon in Lansing, Illinois. Viola graduated from Mount Ayr High School. She married the love of her life Phillip Jonkman in Roselawn, Indiana on February 14, 1946. She was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church of DeMotte. She was part of their prayer shawl and bible study groups. She especially loved working with Angel’s Wrapped in Love. Viola is survived by her children: Nancy (Robert) Smith, Roy (Ruth Ann) Jonkman, Betty (Edward) Kosta, Vernon (Donna Jean) Jonkman, Theodore (Jennifer) Jonkman, 19 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren, sister: Bernadine (Henry) Kampenga, and special sister-in-laws: Jean Bierma, Marilyn Jonkman, and Melrose Schoon. Viola was preceded in death by her loving husband: Phillip, parents, brothers: Richard Schoon, George Schoon, Lloyd Schoon, and sister: Ruth Neihof. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 16, 2018 at the First Christian Reformed Church of DeMotte, Indiana. Services for Viola will take place on Friday morning at 11:00 a.m. at the church with Pastor Laryn Zoerhof officiating. Interment will follow at the Holland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials would be appreciated towards Adrianna Oudman and her work with the Nehemiah Center in Nicaragua. Boersma Funeral Home, 90 East Grove St., Wheatfield, Indiana has been entrusted with these arrangements.
