Reading
We have nearly finished our story! Please read the following carefully then answer the
questions.
Questions about the reading
Please answer these questions in full sentences. It would be lovely if you wrote your answers
but if you don’t have paper then please say your answers out loud.
1. Why did Orange crayon write to Duncan? Was your prediction correct from
yesterday?
2. What has Blue crayon enjoyed colouring?
3. What bad news did Blue crayon have for Duncan?
4. Why is Pink crayon angry with Duncan?
5. What does Pink crayon want to be used for in the future?
Writing
What has been your favourite part so far? Have you enjoyed reading ‘The Day the Crayons
Quit’ so far’? How do you think the story will end? Write 4 or 5 sentences.
Example
My favourite part so far of ‘The Day the Crayons Quit’ was when Orange crayon wrote to
Duncan because it was so funny. I can’t help but laugh at the thought of two crayons arguing
with each other about who is the colour of the sun! I think the story will end with all the
crayons quitting and Duncan feeling dejected and unable to colour anymore. I have enjoyed
this story so far because it is hilarious.
Spelling
Look very carefully at each word then write it without looking. No cheating! Did you get them
all correct?

Maths
Please follow the link to access today’s maths:
https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/z6vm6v4
If you do not have access to the internet, then a slightly different lesson is also below, no
printed is required.
Today's lesson is on adding and subtracting a 2-digit number and a 1-digit number (for
example 12 + 7 = 19 or 45 + 3 = 48).
A Two- Digit Number and Ones
When adding a single digit number (ones) to a two digit number always start with the larger
number and count on forwards with the smaller number.
Subtracting a ones number from a two-digit number is the same but in reverse. Always start
with the larger number and count backwards with the smaller number.
Activity 1 – Use the 100 square to solve the equations. You can write them on paper or say
your answers out loud.
54 + 5 =
62 + 8 =
45 + 6 =
77 + 5
81 + 8 =
12 – 1 =
22 – 3 =
45 – 7 =
76 – 7 =
93 – 5 =
Activity 2 – Solve the word problems below. Think about whether you need to add or subtract
to solve the problem. Is there more than one step? Copy the equations onto paper or say the
answers out loud. Use the 100 square to help you.
1 Mr Sibson has 7 gel pens. Miss Kee has 28 gel pens. How many
gel pens so they have altogether?
2 Mrs Groza has 4p more than Mrs Delaney. Mrs Delaney has
38p. How much does Mrs Groza have?
3 There are 32 gloves in the cloakroom. Mr Sibson takes 4. How
many gloves are left?
4 There are 12 biscuits in the biscuit tin. Miss Kee buys 9 more.
How many biscuits are there now?
5 Mr Sibson buys 12 pencils one week and 7 the following week.
He gives 3 pencils to Mrs Delaney.
How many pencils are left?
6 Mrs Groza has 45 marbles. She takes them to Miss Kee’s
house. She loses 3 on the way and 4 in the house.
How many marbles does she have left?
RE- How do Christians care for the environment and why?
Last week we looked at how different faiths care for the environment.
Why do they do this? We will look this week at the Christian faith and next week at Islam.
Christians
Christians treasure the holy book, The Bible. They read it and follow the teachings in The Bible. Here
are some verses from the Bible that talk about caring for the
environment.
God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden
to work it and take care of it. Genesis 2:15
Most Christians believe that God gave human beings a special
responsibility within creation to guard it and use it wisely. This
is called stewardship. The ‘Garden of Eden’ is where the first
humans lived, according to The Bible.
Everything that lives and moves about will be food for you. Just as I gave you the
green plants, I now give you everything. Genesis 9:3
The earth is the Lord's, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it. Psalm
24:1
Humans are given everything for their needs; they can use whatever they want from creation for
their survival. However, as the Earth belongs to God, humans must respect it and hand it back to God
undamaged.
The Bible also has 10 commandments; 10 rules, which Christians try to live by.
Task:
Can you write 10 commandants that you think we should live by including ones about how we can save
the environment.
Romanian
This week we are learning how to say ‘please’ in Romanian.
Please check the pronunciation on google translate: search English “please” to Romanian for
an accurate pronunciation.
We would like to remind you that a PowerPoint presentation with facts about the Romanian language
and Romania is now available on Optional Extras on our website. Try to discover fun facts about
Romania in the presentation. If you do not have internet access, see some of the slides below.
Do you know anyone who speaks Romanian? Do you know anyone who visited Romania?
