9 FAM 41.62 Exhibit III 1972 EXCHANGE-VISITOR SKILLS LIST The 1972 Exchange-Visitor Skills List (Department of State Public Notice 356, 37 FR 8099-8117, April 25, 1972) became effective 30 days after publication in the Federal Register. Former exchange visitor participants who entered the United States or obtained visas prior to July 12, 1984 will continue to be governed by the 1972 list, as amended by Public Notice 591, 43 FR 5910-5912, February 10, 1978. This Exhibit of the 1972 Exchange-Visitor Skills List includes subsequent amendments to that list (in italics). DEPARTMENT OF STATE EXCHANGE-VISITOR SKILLS LIST Pursuant to the provisions of section 212(e) of the Immigration and Nationality Act, as amended (84 Stat. 116; 8 U.S.C. 1182(e)), and 22 CFR 41.65(b), the Secretary of State hereby designates the following list of fields of specialized knowledge or skill and those countries which clearly require the services of persons engaged in one or more of such fields. Any alien who is a national or resident of one of those countries and obtains an exchange-visitor visa and/or becomes a participant in an Exchange-Visitor Program involving a designated field of specialized knowledge or skill after the effective date of this public notice or after the effective date of any subsequent designations, shall be subject to the 2-year foreign residence (home-country physical presence) requirement of section 212(e) of said Immigration and Nationality Act as provided by said section and 22 CFR 41.65(b). This list, which shall be referred to as the “Exchange-Visitor Skills List,” will be reviewed on a continuing basis and will be amended on or about January 1 of each year, if necessary. Suggested amendments should be sent to the Director, Facilitative Services Staff, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, Department of State, Washington, D.C. 20520. DEPARTMENT OF STATEEXCHANGE-VISITOR SKILLS LIST

Part I of the Exchange-Visitor Skills List was amended by Public Notice591, 43 FR 5910-5912, February 10, 1978. These changes apply to anyalien who obtained an exchange-visitor visa and/or became a participant inan Exchange-Visitor Program on or after March 15, 1978.
The changes to Part I read as follows:
1. Field 2A is changed to read "2A. General Practice of Medicine (including osteopaths who also practice medicine)."
2. Field 2H is changed to read "2H. Chiropractic and Osteopathy (not including osteopathic physicians who also practice medicine)."
3. Field 2I is changed to read "2I. All Therapies, Prosthetics, and Healing (except Medicine, Osteopathy or Osteopathic Medicine, Nursing, Dentistry, Chiropractic, and Optometry)."
4. Field 3A is changed to read "3A. Journalism (including, but not limited to, editors and reporters; and including text-book writers, interpreters, and translators)."
