• She is Full Professor of Internal medicine, University of Milan, Italy (Department of Clinical

Sciences and Community Health) for last 20 years

• Since 2016, she is Chief of ‘Rare Diseases Centre’ in Milano, Italy

• Since 1999, she has been the chief of ‘thalassemia and hemoglobinopathies centre’,

Milano, Italy

• She has done extensive research in the field of hereditary disorders of red cells

specially thalassemia

• She is an invited speaker and chair for various prestigious meetings and events across the globe

• She was president of European Federation of Internal Medicine

• She is member of American Society of Hematology, European Society of Hematology,

Italian Society of Hematology & Italian Society of Internal Medicine

• She is scientific Advisor for the Thalassaemia International Federation (TIF) and

contributor to their meetings

• She was instrumental in establishing the guidelines for the treatment of thalassemia

published by TIF

• She was sectional editor for Thalassemia Intermedia Section in

European Journal of Internal Medicine (EJIM)

• She is a member of editorial board of the prestigious hematology journal - Hematologica

• She did fellowship in MRC Molecular Hematology Unit -John Radcliffe Hospital Oxford,

England (1981-83)

• She was also a visiting scientist in the same unit during 1983 - 87 for

various cooperative projects

• She has published extensively (over 100 peer reviewed papers in

various international journals of great repute
