Cultural Excursion

Grab your passport and come on a 4 day excursion! You will “visit” four countries in four days! Bonjour! In this fun and inter-active session you'll learn survival French phrases and elements of the French culture. You may even get to eat some French crepes! Inst: Morales Güten Tag! Visit Germany and learn some German words and phrases, taste some delicious choco-late, and see how Germany has influ-enced American culture! Inst: Luet-kemeier Hola! On this day you will learn basic Spanish phrases, some traditional games from Spain and Mexico, and tour Mexico and a typical school in the country. Inst: Medina Namasthae! It is quite impos-sible not to be astonished by India. Nowhere on earth does humanity present itself in such a creative burst of cultures, religion, food, and lan-guages! Today's session will include music, food, mendhi (henna tattoos),

games, and activities. Inst: Parekh

Please and Thank You Come join in the fun and learn how to make creative healthy snacks, as well as how to use proper etiquette, including which piece of silverware to use and when. “Please” and “thank you” are just the beginning of good manners taught in this class. Geocaching Geocaching is the international “Hide and Seek” game of hidden treas-ures! Feel like a modern day pirate as you find hidden treasures using a GPS unit. We will put together a puzzle using the hidden treasures you find outside Kirkwood! Inst: Fasnacht

Yoga Turn your body into a dog, cat, tree, cobra, cow, and chair! Yoga is a fun way to enhance flexibility, strength, coordination, and body awareness. Also, learning yoga at a young age can help with concentra-tion, as well as a finding a natural way of how to calm and relax one’s mind and body in a stressful world. Inst: Dietiker

Piano Mania! Let’s learn to play the piano! Join us as we learn the difference between black and white keys, sounds and play some simple tunes on the piano. May-be you’ll become the next Beethoven! Inst: Smith

Discovering Wildlife Biology Become a scientist for a week as you learn how to use animal tracks and signs to discover what animals live in your own backyard. Make your own Plaster of Paris track to take home. Find out how scien-tists use animal mark/recapture studies to learn about animal pop-ulations and participate in a mock mark/recapture study. Learn about bird behavior and go on a bird behavior hunt. Find out what a “bioblitz” is and help complete one at the Jones Regional Kirk-wood Campus. Inst: Olson

Making Math Fun Join classmates as we create every-day situations that make math fun! In this class you will brush up on basic math in a fun way, like playing games, cooking, and baking! *Students may be handling food items processed in facilities that also handle peanuts, eggs and tree nuts. Spanish for Kids ¡ Hola Amigos! Come join the fun and learn the Spanish language. Ex-plore the basics of Spanish by learning numbers, colors, and phrases. We will also play fun games and learn about Hispanic cultures and traditions. Inst: Keltner

Techno Kids Do you like to use the computer? Do you enjoy searching the internet and using fun apps? Throughout this week students will practice their keyboard-ing skills, use internet search engines to look for cool websites, learn about downloading pictures and music and have fun with iPad learning apps.
