Answers will vary but should include some of the following: This engraving was published as tensions grew between the colonies and Great Britain. The colonies were part of the Kingdom of Great Britain and not considered an independent nation. Paul Revere created this after the event from a drawing of another colonist and took liberty to change some of its aspects. It was used as a piece of propaganda to advance the cause for independence.

Answers will vary but should reference that the British are lined up and an officer is giving an order to fire, implying that the British soldiers are the aggressors. Colonists look innocent.
