Tilghman ladies win Line Dance Contest Adalyn Tilghman and her daughter, Deborah Robinson, won First Place in the 2018 Elks Line Dance Competition as Jazzy Ladies.The annual competition is sponsored by the Queen City Elks & Success Temple Daughter Elks. Taking second place was UMES Stepping Connection, and third place was Light of Crisfield #86, and Honorable Mention went to The Whiteheads.A good time was had by all, lots of line dancing, hand dancing, and just plain ole dancing and karaoke finished the evening. The Exalted Ruler of the Queen City Elks is Fred Martin and the Daughter Ruler of Success Temple is Jo Irene Gaile. The 8th Annual Black List Awards ceremony, sponsored by the Ministers and Citizens for Change, was held February 24 th in the new impres- sive addition to the Full Gospel Church of God in Hurlock, MD. The honorees for outstanding and dedicated serviceincluded: Dorchester County Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Diana Mitchell, Maple Elementary Marching Lions Band Director Ray Washington, North Dorchester Middle School music teacher Kevin Lewis, Ministers and Citizens for Change member Cederick Turner, Shore United Bank Assistant Vice President Lynnell Collins, long- time educator and former Easton Mid- dle School principal Norby Lee, Hurlock council member Earl Murphy and his wife Michelle Murphy, Sher- wood Sharp, Devon Beck, Roxanne Green, and Austin Brown. The ceremony featured Lt. Gov. Boyd Rutherford as the keynote speaker. Hurlock Town Council Presi- dent, and Ministers and Citizens for Change founder, Rev. Charles Cephas hosted the event. The master of ceremonies was Min. David Dickerson and the open- ing prayer was given by OrphansCourt Judge, the Rev. George R. Ames Jr. Dr. Mitchell also spoke.
