So What Is a Recent College Graduate New Hire Expected to Do?

• Be yourself. Firms recruit energetic, enthusiastic, bright, curious, flexible, outgoing, optimistic people

• Learn everything you can about the firm’s methodologies, resources, best practices, industries, services, and networks

• Research and gather information to either support or refute a point of view or recommendation

• Prepare clear and articulate presentations and documents for clients• Create databases, models, simulations, etc. to help track or predict

issues, outcomes, etc.• Teach your counterparts (peers, Managers, Partners) about relevant

college learnings/experiences, including: software apps, readings, etc.• Participate in meetings and presentations to clients and peers• Challenge your Managers and clients by asking questions and

providing insight…but know how and when to do this without making them or you look bad
