The chicken manure is processed through the inoculation of beneficial enzymes and microorganism using the product Biosec. With Biosec treatment, manure decomposition and digestion is immediate, thus minimizing ammonia production and proliferation pathogenic microorganism. The process of decomposition is done via complex microbial and enzymatic process utilizing beneficial microorganisms used by food and feed industries. These beneficial microorganisms multiply rapidly and subsequently produce microbial products that inhibit the growth and proliferation of pathogenic microorganisms such as Salmonella sp., E. coli, and the like. Thus the application of Biosec replaces the microflora of the manure from pathogenic group of microorganisms to beneficial group of microbes. During microbial processing, harmful microbes in the raw manure are destroyed. The fats and protein in the manure are digested that is why the foul odor is removed. Processing or fermentation takes all of 45 to 60 days. Fermentation generates heat as high as 70°C that is why the manure heats up, turns dry, and destroys microbes. The fermentation is caused by a digester consisting of molds, bacteria and yeasts that are packed into a product branded - Biosec. In the enzymatic decomposition process, the manure composition is broken down to simple nutrients, which can be available for plant use upon usage as fertilizer. The combination of beneficial microorganism and enzyme action on the manure allows it to ferment and release the necessary macro and micronutrients in it. Nevertheless, the process sanitizes it through the removal of pathogenic microorganisms and ammonia and sulfide production. The presence of beneficial microorganisms in the Durabloom promotes the production ofdigestive enzymes such as Amylase, Lipase, Cellulase and Protease. Each of the enzymes hasits own function in the decomposition or degradation of nutrients in the chicken manure. Durabloom Nutrient Analysis

Durabloom is a product registered with the Fertilizer and Pesticide Authority (FPA). It containsmacronutrients that plants need in larger doses. Macronutrients include Nitrogen, Phosphorousand Potassium.

Durabloom also contains a variety of the basic nutrients that plants require for healthy growth.Of special importance are the micronutrients present, such as iron, manganese, copper andzinc. They are only needed in small doses but without them, plants have difficulty extractingnutrients from other foods. It has been a common practice for farmers to use chicken manure as fertilizer in its raw form.But the traditional practice in the utilization of the manure as fertilizer is expensive, laborious,impractical, and poses health and environment threat.

In view of the above, Durabloom is a better alternative:

- Economical. One bag of Durabloom (50 kilos) replaces 3 bags of raw chicken manure.The cost of one bag of Durabloom is much less than that of 3 bags of raw manure. This ispossible because the nutrients in Durabloom are conserved, and they are broken down insimple elements easy for plant roots to absorb. - Pollution control. No foul odor from Durabloom. The fermentation done on it prevents theemission of foul odor. No health hazard posed on people. - Less labor. You will need less labor to haul bags and apply Durabloom in the field. - Control of flies - Practically, no flies are attracted to the Durabloom due to the absence offoul odor. Durabloom smells like the good earth. - Supply of microelements. Durabloom contains manganese, iron, molybdenum, zinc, etc.,needed by plants. microelements are not available in the soil. - Less warehouse space. With 1 bag of Durabloom replacing 3 bags of raw chicken dung,Durabloom needs less bodega space. - No burning effect on plants. Durabloom has no burning effect on plants even applied rightat the time of planting. It can be applied as basal, sidedressing and topdress. - More cropping. If you use raw chicken dung, you will wait for it to decay before plantingthe seedlings. So you make only 2 cropping for short-term plants like vegetables. Because ithad been decayed, you can make 3 cropping.

Durabloom is a complete and balanced fertilizer. It consists of macronutrients such as: Nitrogen,Phosphorus, Potassium, Calcium, Magnesium, and Sulfur. Durabloom Supply

Supply of Durabloom is not a problem since it is locally manufactured and manufacturing plantare located in strategic areas all-over the country. The product is now being distributed andused from Aparri to Zamboanga. The Bio-Organic Fertilizer (BOF), processing centers areestablished in: Tarlac; Baao, Camarines Sur; Davao; Bulacan; and Bantayan Island, Cebu witha combined production capacity of 35,000 to 50,000 bags per month.

Durabloom R&D

Recent study by Philrice, Batac, Ilocos Norte, showed that application of Durabloom increasedthe yield of rice (PJ 3-5) by 50 to 80%, and effectively addressed zinc deficiency observed in theareas where the study was conducted. (September 2002 to February 2003)

A study on the effect of different levels of commercial organic fertilizer Durabloom incombination with inorganic fertilizer at different levels on sweet pepper was conducted at theMariano Marcos State University. Results indicated that plants fertilized with 2 tons Nova Pure+85-85-85 kg/ha NPK produced significantly taller plants, produced more branches and fruits…higher yield.

Test results in the study conducted by Benguet State University (BSU) on the “Effect ofDurabloom on the Growth and Production of Cabbage and Potato” showed that Durabloomtreated Cabbage and Potato obtained superior produce and higher yield compared with farmerspractice with the use of chemical fertilizer.

Durabloom. Trials on carrot, potato, and other vegetables at Benguet State University gavegood harvest even with Durabloom applied alone. Less cost of production.

Durabloom has been adopted by the Integrated Pest Management Program (IPM) of Benguetprovince. In IPM's Plant Nutrition component, 4 bags of Durabloom, 1 bag of urea and 3 bags ofcomplete fertilizer per ½ hectare were used. In dry-season cabbage production cost of fertilizerwent down by 35%, according to Dr. Walfredo Rola of the College of Human Ecology, Universityof the Philippines Los Baños in his article "Economic Impact of Diadegma as a BiocontrolAgent Against Diamondback Moth of Cabbage" published in The Philippine AgriculturalScientist, April-June 1999 issue, volume 82, number 2, pages 200 to 212.
