NOTES FROM YOUR SOCIAL DIRECTOR Welcome to Canyon Springs! My name is Andrea and as your Social Director, I am pleased to be able to plan and coordinate activities and events for you and your family. I am proud to represent GL Homes in their goal of providing our Canyon Springs homeowners with a wonderful and exciting lifestyle. I hope everyone has been enjoying their beautiful clubhouse! In an effort to save on expenses and do our part in saving the environment we have changed the newsletter format to an E-newsletter only, if you require a hard copy, please see me in the clubhouse and I’ll print one for you. Remember to also tune into channel 63 to see the list of events and activities going on at the Clubhouse, as well as important announcements, helpful information and updates. All suggestions are welcomed, so if there is something that you would like to have organized at the club, please contact me and I will share your idea with the appropriate committee. JUNE EVENTS LADIES SOCIAL Thursday, June 4th Put the children to bed and join us for a night of girl talk! Come out unwind, share or hear some stories and have a laugh with your neighbors on Thursday, June 4th at 8pm. Salsa, chips, wine, and water will be served or bring your drink and snack of choice or order a pizza together. If you’re not able to join us, please mark your calendar for July 2nd at 8pm for the next scheduled Ladies Social!

KID’S GAME NIGHT Friday, June 5th Game Night is a simple, practical way for families to put some real quality time into their busy lives. Bring your board games or a deck of cards to the Social Hall to share some fun time with your friends and neighbors on Friday, June 5th from 4:30pm- 6:00pm. Every child will need one parent to stay with them for this event. Please RSVP with Andrea if plan on coming to our first Kid’s Game Night!

KIDS SATURDAY AT THE MOVIES Saturday, June 6th Let’s watch a movie together!

Bring your children to the Kid’s Center on Saturday, June 6th at 10am. We will watch a movie and have a snack with juice. Every child will need one parent to stay with them for this free event. RSVP with Andrea by June 4th if you are planning on attending.

JUNE EVENTS CONTINUED WINE AND CHEESE MEET & GREET Saturday, June 6th Come mix and mingle with your neighbors at our Meet & Greet Wine and Cheese on Saturday, June 6th from 8:00pm to 10:00pm in the Social Hall. We will be serving Wine, Water, Cheese and Crackers. This is a great way to make new friends or to spend some quality time with your family. The cost is $3 per person. Please RSVP by June 3rd with Andrea.

CHICK FLICK NIGHT Thursday, June 18th Ladies you deserve a Girl’s Night Out! Come to the Social Hall on Thursday, June 18th at 8pm to enjoy a Chick Flick with your friends and neighbors. Bring your drink of choice because popcorn will be served. RSVP with Andrea if you are planning to attend. The next Chick Flick Night is scheduled for July16th.

FATHERS DAY CRAFT Saturday, June 20th Make a Father’s Day Gift for your Dad or Grandpa! Come to the Kids Center on Saturday, June 20th from 10:30-12:00pm to decorate a Picture Frame for your special someone and share a snack with your friends! Please bring a picture of you and/or your family to place in the frame. The cost is $5.00 per child. Every child will need one parent to stay with them for this event. Please RSVP by June 15th

POOL PARTY-BYOB (Bring your own Basket) Saturday, June 27th Whether in the backyard or at the pool, kids of all ages get a kick out of picnics. With the weather heating up, this is the perfect time for a splash bash! Pack a lunch for the family and meet us at the pool Saturday, June 27th from 11:30am- 1:30pm. We will provide snow cones for the kid’s and water basketball! Please RSVP by June 20th if you plan on attending.

KID’S CRAFT SATURDAY, JULY 11TH Bring your children to the Kid’s Center on Saturday, July 25th from 10:30am – 11:30am to create a Paper Bag Puppet. Each month we will create a fun to make project that you can take with you! Juice and a snack will be served after craft time. Every child will need one parent to stay with them for this free event. The next Craft Date is August 22nd, so mark your calendar! Please contact Andrea for more details and to RSVP for this fun filled hour.

JULY EVENTS CONTINUED CHICK FLICK NIGHT Thursday, July 16th Ladies you deserve a Girl’s Only evening! Whether you tune in to hopeless romantic comedies, adventures or hard-driving girl-power drama. Come to the Social Hall on July, 16th at 8pm to enjoy a chick flick with your friends and neighbors. Bring your drink of choice because popcorn will be served. RSVP with Andrea if you are planning to attend. The next Chick Flick Night is scheduled for August 20th.

POOL PARTY - BYOB (Bring your own Basket) Saturday, July 25th You're invited to a Splash Bash at the Clubhouse Saturday, July 25th from 11:30am- 1:30pm. The water is so nice and cool... so let's all party by the pool. Pack a basket for lunch of your family’s favorite foods and drinks and we will provide the Ice Cream for dessert! Please RSVP by July 15th with Andrea for this fun in the sun bash!

SATURDAY AT THE MOVIES Saturday, July 18th Let’s watch a movie together! Bring your children to the Kid’s Center on Saturday, July 18th at 10am. We will watch a newly released movie and share a snack with juice. Every child will need one parent to stay for this Free event.

CLASSES BOOT CAMP/ STRENGTH TRAINING Join Tracy at the clubhouse every Wednesday at 12:00pm for Boot Camp. Her Mission is to help you get into great shape, reduce stress, lose weight, increase energy and build confidence. Why spend time shut indoors, when you could be outside getting fit, losing weight, and having fun? Don’t be intimidated, this class is for all fitness levels and you can work at your own pace. Commit to 4 consecutive weeks and you will see the results! Tracy is a certified instructor and teaches classes at the Boynton Beach YMCA. The cost is $10/session, please RSVP with Andrea if plan on attending this class.

STRENGTH TRAINING No matter what your goals are, strength training is an important component of your exercise program and it's never too late to start. When you strength train with weights, you're using your muscles to work against the extra pounds (this concept is called resistance). This strengthens and increases the amount of muscle mass in your body by making your muscles work harder even when you’re not working out. Join Jessica a certified personal trainer every Wednesday at 8pm in the Aerobics Studio. Classes Start Wednesday, June 17th. And the cost is $5.00 per class; please RSVP with Andrea if you are planning on attending.

ACTIVITIES BASKETBALL PICK –UP GAMES Join your neighbors every Sunday morning at 9:30am at the basketball courts for a fun game of pick-up basketball. Players will choose up sides and start playing. The number of players available will determine if the game will be full or half court. Full Court Pickup Basketball is an excellent way to get exercise! All skill levels welcomed! So come out and have some fun and make new friends. Remember to wear proper clothing and bring plenty of water. See you on the court!

NEIGHBORHOOD WALK This activity is ideal for all ages and a great way to meet your neighbors and make new friends! We meet in front of the Clubhouse every Tuesday and Thursday at 7pm and walk Lyons Road scenic corridor. Come out and get some exercise with your neighbors! RSVP to Andrea if you plan on attending.

POKER NIGHT Hey Guys! Want to get out and hang with the boys for a game of cards. Then this event is for you! Come to the Social Hall every Tuesday night at 8:00pm! Put on your best poker face and join your neighbors for a fun night out! We will supply the snacks, so bring your drink of choice. Please let Andrea know if you are interested in joining in on the fun.

SCRAPBOOKING

Do you have a scrapbook project you want to get started or finished? Bored by plain photo albums? Start a scrapbooking hobby to preserve your most memorable moments. Bring your materials to the Social Hall on Wednesday, June 17th at 7pm. Share ideas with the other ladies of Canyon Springs on capturing your precious memories. Please let me know if you are interested in this activity and RSVP by June 3rd if you plan on attending this class.

STROLLER WALKING CLUB

Come out and meet other mom’s at the clubhouse every Tuesday and Thursday at 9:30am and join the Stroller Walking Club! This is a great way to meet other mom's in the community and get a great workout at the same time! All you need is You, Your Baby and the Stroller. Remember to bring Water and a Hat or Sunblock for both you and your baby.

We are still looking to put together the following activities; anyone interested please contact Andrea for details or to be added to the list.

BUNKO Ladies… Let’s get a Canyon BUNKO group going! We need 10-12 ladies to get started. Bunco is a social event; it’s a party and a blast! Beginners welcomed.

KARATE (ADULT) Develop better strength, flexibility, balance and aerobic capacity, all while learning the arts of self-defense. The cost of this program is $60.00 per month. We need at least 5 adults to sign up before classes can begin.

MAH JONGG Ladies… play Mahjongg! We need a minimum of 4 ladies to get started. Valerie will teach mahjongg to anyone who wants to learn.

TENNIS LADDER We are organizing two Tennis Ladders (for Intermediate and Advanced players). Once we have enough participants, Ladders and associated rules will also be posted in the clubhouse and gym.

KIDS CORNER BIKE CLUB Come out and show your patriotism and join your neighbors at the Clubhouse Parking Lot Saturday, June 13 from 11am-1pm, for our first Bike Club Meet-up! We will be decorating our bicycles, strollers, and wagons in a patriotic way and parading down our Main Street from the Clubhouse. Juice and water will be served after the parade and prizes will be awarded for the most creative decoration! So come out and show your pride! Please RSVP by June 7th, so we can plan accordingly!

KARATE This program combines traditional martial arts training with high level character development, building confidence through achievement. Senpai Fabian was certified in Japan and has provided superior martial arts instruction for over 10 years. By combining traditional values with modern approaches he will help your child achieve great results both physically and mentally. Classes are every Tuesday from 6pm-7pm and Saturday from 8:45am – 9:45am in the aerobics studio. The cost of this class is $40.00 per month. Please RSVP with Andrea if you are interested.

MOMMY & ME PLAY DATE (Ages 0-3) Come meet other mommy’s and watch your little ones play and learn with others their age, every Wednesday at 10:30am in the Kid’s Center. Please bring some toys for the kids to play together with and watch them make new friends. RSVP with Andrea if plan on attending.

MOMMY & ME CRAFT Bring your toddler to the kid’s center every Tuesday from 10:30am – 11:30am to create an age appropriate craft. The children had a great time making their own Doggy Hand Puppets, Bird Feeders, and Hand Print Flowers! Mom’s let me know if you have a low cost craft idea that we can use for an upcoming date! Please contact Andrea for more details and to RSVP for this fun filled hour. A special Thank You to Lisa, Janel and Tawny for all the great craft ideas we used in April and May!

PLAY DATE (Ages 1-3) Meet at the Clubhouse Playground every Monday at 9:00am and get the little ones out of the house before the heat of the day, for some outdoor play. Watch your little ones make new friends and meet other mom’s with children the same age as yours. RSVP With Andrea if plan on attending.

PLAY DATE (Ages 4-7) Meet at the Clubhouse Playground every Friday at 4:30pm. Get the Kids out of the house and watch them burn off some energy and make new friends. It’s a great way for the parents to meet the neighbors and make new friends too. RSVP With Andrea if plan on attending.

SWIM LESSONS Summer is here! So for your convenience we are offering swim lessons at the clubhouse. Aqua Pam is a certified swim instructor and teaches children of all levels. She provides private lessons at $35.00 per 20 minute session, discounts available, please contact Andrea at the clubhouse or contact Pam directly at 561-758-1869 for all the details!

TENNIS CLINIC Jose Tenorio is Pat Etcheberry Certified and has 28 years experience in the game of tennis. He will introduce the sport of tennis to your children in a professional and fun way. They will learn good technique, coordination, mental strength and all the benefits that tennis provides for a lifetime. Group lessons are divided by age/ ability and are limited to a maximum of 4 children to a group as follows: 3-4 year olds-30 minute lessons-$10 (Wednesday 4pm & 4:30pm) 5-6 year olds-45 minute lessons-$13 (Wednesday & Friday 5:15pm) 7-9 year olds-1 hour lesson-$15 7-8 years old (Tuesday & Thursday 6pm) 9-10 years old (Wednesday & Friday 6pm)

WATER PLAY DATE Kids put your bathing suit on, grab a parent and a towel and let’s meet at the Interactive Water Play Area every other Wednesday from 10:00am - 11:30am starting Wednesday, June 17th to share some summer splash time with your friends and neighbors.

Announcements must be received by the 10th of the month prior to publication to appear in the subsequent issue of the Canyon Springs Newsletter.

COMMITTEES The Kid’s Committee and Social Committee both had meetings in April and have greatly contributed to the list of upcoming events and activities in this newsletter. Sasha Politoski is now the new Kid’s Committee Chair and Janel Williams the Kid’s Co-Chair. Thank you all that have volunteered and for your constant commitment to the lifestyle here at Canyon Springs.

HOW TO RSVP You must RSVP for all events here at Canyon Springs in advance or they will have to be cancelled. You can RSVP by email, phone call or dropping a note in the suggestion box outside of my office. If the event has a cost associated with it, the money needs to be collected by the published RSVP date listed for that event, only checks can be accepted, please make payable to Canyon Springs HOA. Unfortunately, we cannot accept cash for any events. Please call or email me with any questions you may have. IMPORTANT CLUBHOUSE NOTICE Children under the age of 16 are NOT allowed in the Clubhouse without a parent or guardian and NO Children under the age of 16 are allowed in the Gym at anytime under no circumstance and no exceptions can be made. Please be advised that these rules are in place for the safety of the children and all residents.
