Finally Moses turns these words on God: “Don’t forget that you who saved them made a promise, and that means you have an obligation not to destroy those to whom you made that promise.” This story reminds us that it can be easy to let someone else do the dirty work, to shift blame, to hold others to standards you yourself are not maintaining. It’s also easy to forget promises, especially when you’re angry. WHERE WE LIVE, SERVE, & WALK TOGETHER IN FAITH.

Jesus, thank You for desiring to dwell in me. Thank You for having made me to receive You, to bear Your life into a world that needs You desperately. FROM THE PASTOR

My Dear Brothers and Sisters in Jesus, Today marks the 15th Anniversary of the four coordinated terrorist attacks by the Islamic terrorist group al-Qaeda against our country on the morning of September 11, 2001. The attacks killed 2,996 people and injured over 6,000 oth-ers and caused at least $10 billion in property and infrastructure damage and $3 trillion in total costs. It was a day that all of us wish had never happened. I was just getting ready to cross the parking lot at Saint Aloysius to offer a funeral mass in the church, when I received a call from a friend urging me to hurry up and turn on the TV for a plane had crashed into the one of the World Trade Center Towers. And so be-gan possibly the most horrific tragedy visited upon our country. All of us were changed. Our way of life was never to be quite the same. As I reflect on the aftermath, I remember that one of the transform-ing experiences of those sad days was that everyone really had to ask themselves what was important in life. Certainly the normal things that we get so excited by were all cast aside by the magni-tude of what had happened. The preciousness and also the precari-ous and vulnerable nature of the fundamental gift of life burned its way into the depth of our souls. Years later, the 9/11 Memorial opened in lower Manhattan and I didn’t get there right away. I don’t know why. Strangely enough I had been scheduled to visit the site with a group from Donovan Catholic…it was the day after my brother, John died. I went any-way. I saw where Eileen Fagan’s sister Patricia’s name was in-scribed and said a prayer. Then, inside the museum, I was overcome (and I wasn’t alone) by the immensity of it all – the people, the building, the scale of everything… and a deep, deep sense of loss. A lesson learned from the whole experience was the realization that, although it is a constant struggle, we ought not to cling to too much. In a moment, everything in our lives can be thrown up in the air and without a clear sense of what can truly survive. The way forward can be almost impossible. Yet, with God’s grace, we were able to experience the height of human sacrifice and the ability of our brothers and sisters to manifest heroic love. Today, as we re-member, let us pray for God’s grace and for an ever-increasing capacity to love one another as Christ has loved us. Fr. Scott

Fr. Scott

COMUNIDAD HIJOS DE MARIA GRUPO DE ORACION LUNES @ 7:30PM 16 Lafayette St, TR EL 3er Lunes, ES EN LA IGLESIA
