Un Mensaje del Principal.
Dear Weatherbee Families,
Good writing skills are very important given the requirements of
communication in today’s world. The faculty and staff of Weather-
bee Elementary School are well aware of this and have made
writing a priority over the last several years. In the month of
March, our fourth and fifth grade students will be taking the FSA
Writing Test. This test will be administered on March 6th. Stu-
dents will write an essay scored utilizing a rubric. To help all of
our students in grade 4 and 5 prepare for this test and to continue
to improve the writing skills of all of our children, I have listed
some tips for helping children become a better writer:
•Provide a supply of writing materials-a selection of papers, pen-
cils, envelopes and stamps.
•Be sure your child sees you writing lists, memos, a personal
diary or journal.
•Encourage your child to keep a diary or journal.
•Suggest a pen pal-a special friend or relative.
•For an older child, provide his or her own stationary.
•Write secret messages to your child and place them on his desk,
bed, or in a lunch bag. Encourage your child to write back to you.
•Write together-a letter, a poem, a greeting card, a funny story, or
about an actual experience.
•Praise your child for writing at home and for his or her ideas and
creativity.
•Complete 30 minutes of reading daily and respond in a writing
journal
We are happy to once again provide our Saturday Title I writing
Camp to our 4th and 5th graders. Writing camp will continue
every Saturday for 4th and 5th grade students until February
24,2018. Please make sure your 4th and 5th grade child is in
attendance each week.
Thanks for all of your help in making your child become a Won-
derful Weatherbee Writer. With your assistance we will continue
to see significant growth in our students’ writing. Have a great
month!
Sincerely,
Michael Hitsman Kimberly Cain

diantes. Que tengas un gran mes!
Atentamente,
Michael Hitsman Kimberly Cain

A Message from the Principal.
Tardy and Early Pick up policy
Every 5th unexcused tardy will be counted, for determina-
tion of school truancy, as an unexcused absence. Students
who are late to school in the morning and/or who are picked
up from school early will be tardy for the day. These tardies
will be either excused or unexcused based on Board policy.
It is recommended that the parent provide written documen-
tation within 3-days. If the student is either late to school or
being picked up early due to a medical appointment, it is
recommended that the parent provide the school with evi-
dence of the appointment. In such cases, the tardy will be
excused.
Poliza de Tardanza o Recogida Temprana
Cada 5 tardanzas injustificadas se contará, para la
determinación del absentismo escolar, como una
ausencia injustificada.
