Follow these guidelines for 7 consecutive days for a thorough skin detox…

A skin reset helps “detox” your skin and unclog your pores, so you can look and feel good from the inside out. Although your skin naturally

detoxifies itself, it needs a little help when dealing with things like air pollution, stress, and product build-up.

Your skin needs a reset if you...Can’t pinpoint the source of your skin issues(breakouts, excessive dryness, oil overproduction, etc.)

Have a dull or uneven skin tone

Step 1: Commit to a daily skincare routine

First, evaluate your current skincare routine and products. Are you taking care of your skin day and night? Do you have everything you need?

Next, make sure to use the correct sequence in your skincare routine. Why? Because certain products (like moisturizer) can affect your skin’s ability to absorb what you apply next. Morning and night, apply your skincare products in the following order:

Throw out any expired skincare products or makeup. Old products can harbor harmful bacteria, irritate your skin, or even cause infections. Plus, expired products just don’t work as well.

If you don’t know the expiration date or can’t remember when you purchased it, give it a close inspection. Throw away anything that has changed in texture, color, or smell. You should also discard any product that has visibly separated.

Another precaution you should take is knowing which ingredients are in your skincare products. After all, your skin absorbs what you put on it! Two common skin-irritating ingredients you should look out for (and avoid) are: parabens and phthalates.

There’s more to maintaining your skin than just choosing the right creams and cleansers...

To get the best results, you also have to apply those products with the correct technique. These are absolute skin care Do’s and Don'ts:

Limit makeup removal to just a face towelette. It’s not enough and irritates your skin with aggressive wiping.

Use an oil-based makeup remover to gently breakdown makeup without tugging at your skin.

Use hot water to rinse your face. Use lukewarm water to rinse your face.

Neglect cleanser after makeup remover. Double cleanse. Step 1: Makeup remover + Step 2: Face Cleanser.

Exfoliate every day. If your skin doesn’t feel too tight or dry, you can exfoliate up to twice a week.

Use harsh physical exfoliants that contain micro-particles like crushed walnut shells.

Use chemical exfoliants like alpha hydroxy acids (AHA).

Rub your face dry with a dirty towel. Gently pat your face dry with a clean towel.

Mist your face with toner spray. Use a cotton pad to distribute the toner.

Rub and pull your skin when applying eye cream. Use your ring finger to gently pat eye cream around your orbital bone.

Slap and slather moisturizer or face cream on your skin with downward or tugging motions.

Move your hands upward & outward to prevent wrinkles and sagging.

Neglect sunscreen, even on cloudy days. Apply sunscreen every morning before going outside.

The food you eat deeply affects your skin. In the table below, the ‘NO’ column points out foods and drinks to avoid because they contribute to skin inflammation, wrinkles, and sagging. Instead, fill your grocery cart with the foods from the ‘YES’ column. These foods nourish your skin with collagen-tightening vitamins and UV-protecting antioxidants.

Your skin may be feeling congested or dehydrated due to a lack of water. Dehydrated skin is dry, tight, flaky, and prone to wrinkles. Since your skin cells mostly consist of water, they only function properly when you’re fully hydrated. So, this step is crucial for beautiful, healthy skin.

*Note: Don’t drink all this water at once. Keep yourself hydrated throughout the day.

Step 6: Cardio

Start your morning with a brisk walk — at least 15 minutes. Exercise will perk-up your skin so you can take on the day feeling and looking good. Try to go makeup-free when you exercise so your pores aren’t blocked while you sweat.

Morning cardio is “good skincare” because…It gives your skin a healthy glow by increasing blood-flow to your face.

It encourages cell regeneration and toxin removal. (Better blood-flow delivers more oxygen & restorative nutrients to skin cells.)

It helps reduce wrinkles over time by maintaining healthy levels of cortisol — the “stress hormone” which contributes to collagen breakdown if it’s elevated in your bloodstream.

Step 7: Beauty Sleep

You need plenty of sleep for healthy, rejuvenated skin. While you sleep, your body rebalances your hydration levels and repairs damaged cells. Without enough sleep, you’ll notice puffy under-eye bags, dark circles, dryness, and visible signs of aging (like wrinkles). Doctors recommend 7-9 hours of sleep per night for adults.

How to sleep better:Turn off any sources of blue light an hour before you sleep (phone, computer, TV, clock).

Replace afternoon naps with a short power-walk for a burst of energy. (Any daytime exercise helps your body quickly get into ‘sleep mode’ as soon as you lay down at night.)

Don’t work in bed so you don’t associate it with things other than rest.

Create a routine. Go to sleep at the same time each night and wake up at the same time each morning to train your circadian rhythm, or “body clock.”

½ ripe avocado ½ tsp apple cider vinegar 1 tbsp honey

INSTRUCTIONS

Mash the avocado until it’s smooth; then mix-in the apple cider vinegar and honey. Apply the mask to your clean face with your fingers. Let the mask sit for 20 minutes, then rinse it off with lukewarm water. Follow with your usual skincare routine.
