Are We There Yet? Advent is a season of joyful anticipation. It’s like the voices of kids in a car saying “Are we there yet?” It is a time to prepare and get ready and it always seems like there is just not enough time to get everything ready.

The prophet Isaiah tells of a time to come when everyone and everything will live in harmony. That is definitely something to anticipate. The Spirit of the Lord will rest upon the bud that blossoms from the stump, a spirit of wisdom and strength, of knowledge and fear of the Lord. “Are we there yet?”

St. Paul reminds us that what was written previously was written for our instruction. That still holds true for us today. The Scriptures were written for us! We are to welcome all and to show God’s truthfulness so that everyone might glorify God for his mercy. “Are we there yet?”

John the Baptist is a little more forceful in Matthew’s Gospel. He warns the people to produce good fruits or they will be cut down and thrown into the fire. How are our trees doing? Are our “fruits” those of the Spirit that will help us prepare to celebrate the birthday of our Savior or is the ax at the root of our tree?

Our Scriptures serve as a wakeup call. Let’s get ourselves ready both physically and spiritually for Christmas. A lot of the excitement of a trip or vacation is planning and waiting eagerly for the day to finally arrive. If we spend our time preparing well, when Christmas Day is here, we can say with happiness, “We are here!” and greet our Savior joyously.

¿Ya llegamos? Adviento es una temporada de alegre anticipación. Es como las voces de los niños en un automóvil que dicen "¿Ya llegamos?". Es un momento para prepararse y prepararse y siempre parece que no hay suficiente tiempo para preparar todo.

El profeta Isaías habla de un tiempo por venir cuando todos y todo vivirán en armonía. Eso definitivamente es algo para anticipar. El Espíritu del Señor descansará sobre el capullo que brota del tocón, un espíritu de sabiduría y fuerza, de conocimiento y temor del Señor. "¿Ya llegamos?"

St. Pablo nos recuerda que lo que se escribió anteriormente fue escrito para nuestra instrucción. Eso todavía es cierto para nosotros hoy. ¡Las Escrituras fueron escritas para nosotros! Debemos dar la bienvenida a todos y mostrar la veracidad de Dios para que todos puedan glorificar a Dios por su misericordia. "¿Ya llegamos?"

Juan el Bautista es un poco más contundente en el Evangelio de Mateo. Advierte a la gente que produzca buenos frutos o serán talados y arrojados al fuego. ¿Cómo están nuestros árboles? ¿Son nuestros "frutos" los del Espíritu que nos ayudarán a prepararnos para celebrar el cumpleaños de nuestro Salvador o es el hacha en la raíz de nuestro árbol?

Nuestras Escrituras sirven como una llamada de atención. Preparémonos física y espiritualmente para Navidad. Gran parte de la emoción de un viaje o vacaciones es planear y esperar ansiosamente que llegue el día. Si nos tomamos nuestro tiempo preparándonos bien, cuando llega el día de Navidad, podemos decir con felicidad: "¡Estamos aquí!" Y saludamos a nuestro Salvador con alegría.

The Our Lady of Guadalupe Novena continues until December 11th. The novena is held at 7 pm in church. Each night the rosary is led and hosted by a different parish organization, Religious Education and our school, followed by a small sharing of coffee and sweets by the hosting group.

On the feast day, Thursday, December 12th, the Morning Service of Light to Our Lady (Las Mañanitas) will be held at 5:00 am with a mariachi, followed by an early morning reception.

The Mass of the Roses will be held at 7:00 pm which will include a dramatization of the story of Juan Diego and Our Lady and the distribution of Roses. Please join us as we lift up our prayers to Our Lady of Guadalupe and honor her as one parish family.

La Novena de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe continúa hasta el 11 de diciembre. La novena se celebra a las 7 pm en la iglesia. Cada noche, el rosario es dirigido por una organización parroquial diferente, Educación Religiosa y nuestra escuela, con una convivencia pequeña de café y pan dulce despues por parte del grupo anfitrión.
