Mayor’s MessageDespite the recent snow storms,
the weather is changing and April showers will bring May flowers. The blossoms around town have been really pretty this year, especially at the Civic Center and along Main Street.
Our youth athletics programs have started up and many are enjoying the various sporting activities including soccer, baseball, and softball.
The recently upgraded Golf Course is also open for the season. Improvements include new restrooms on the upper level and storage sheds for banquet tables, chairs, and supplies. Exterior improvements are also currently underway with new asphalt being installed in back of the clubhouse.
Come see the pools, gym, exercise equipment and the beautiful windows by Tom Holdman Studios at the CRC! The Clyde Aquatic Center opens to the public for tours and membership processing from May 13-23, 2018, Monday through Friday from 10 am-2 pm daily. The ribbon cutting ceremony is 7 pm on May 16, 2018. The CRC regular hours, from 5 am to 10 pm, Monday through Saturday begin on May 24, 2018.

Improvements on 400 South The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) has begun construction on
400 South (State Route 77). UDOT is widening and reconstructing the road to five lanes from Interstate 15 (I-15) to 2600 West (Spanish Fork Main Street).
The project will install sidewalk, curb, gutter, and drainage improvements, as well as an 8’ sound wall adjacent to the residences on the south side of the road. UDOT will add another eastbound to northbound turn lane and reconfigure the northbound on-ramp at the 400 S. and I-15 interchange.
Construction will take place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and will
last through the end of summer. Area residents and businesses can expect construction-related noise, dust, and minor travel delays. To receive regular updates, email [email protected]. For more information, visit the project website at udot.utah.gov/go/sr77 or call (385) 275-2111.

Don’t forget to try out the newly renovated Terrace Grill.
I am also very excited to have the Clyde Recreation Center opening on May 24th. The ribbon cutting ceremony will be held on May 16th.
The Splash Pad will also be opening on the May 19th in conjunction with the Bike with Mayor and the Duct Tape Regatta at Bartholomew Park will be June 9th at 1:30 pm.
Last month I had a total right knee replacement which has resulted in me missing several meetings. It is good to have such competent people in our administration and on our City Council. They have done a wonderful job filling in for me where needed and keeping me informed on City business.
What Can I Recycle?Springville City is proud to offer a
curbside recycling program, because recycling is the right thing to do. Guidelines for “acceptable” and
“unacceptable” items established by the recycling industry can lower costs. Only clean recyclable items will be accepted by the recycling company. If the recycling truck has a pizza box in its load, the entire load can be rejected and end up in the landfill, just like the other trash. Please help Springville City continue our recycling program by only placing
“acceptable” items in your recycling can.
The Annual Art Ball at the Springville Museum of Art will be held on Saturday, May 12 from 6:00-10:00 pm. Join us for dinner, dancing with a live band and DJ, gallery tours, hand-drawn photo booths, and an Art Royalty Presentation. Tickets are available at smofa.org; $25 per person for students and $35 per person for adults.
Bike with the Mayor and City CouncilHop off your couch and get on a bike. May is national bike month! See you at the
Springville Civic Center on May 19, 2018 for our biking activities. Mayor Child and
the City Council invite you to a fun community bike ride! Come early for donuts! Ride begins at 10 am.
I want to remind everyone to get ready for Art City Days which is June 2-9. Please visit the city web site for more information. A full schedule of events is included in this issue of the City Source newsletter.
