Welcome to the 7th Congress of the Indian Society of Hip and Knee Surgeons to be held in Kolkata from the 26th - 28th April at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Kolkata. It is with a great degree of satisfaction, that we invite you all to attend this academic feast in the Hip & Knee reconstruction. ISHKS, as you are aware, remains the most sought after arthroplasty meeting, because of patronage from you & industry alike. This year will be our first endeavour in Eastern India, which is opening up very fast to joint replacement surgery. As always, some very challenging topics will be deliberated during the meeting, hitherto untouched but very often daunting tasks in day to day practice. An outstanding International faculty will team up with an exciting Indian faculty to bring the best and latest thinking to you. A plethora of Clinical sessions will be interspersed with Research findings, Tips and Tricks, detailed operative steps, Free papers, a rolling E-Poster session and of course the hallmark interactive discussions with an Audience Response System. Preliminary report of our registry will be presented, which has some very hard take home messages.

Our team is working overtime, to make this a grand success, & take home messages should go a long way, in improving quality of our results after the operation. Ample time is allocated, as per appraisal from last meeting, for Clinical sessions, where you can interact with faculty, on one - to- one basis.

Fellowship details:

As a part of its academic pursuit, the Indian Society of Hip and Knee surgeons ( ISHKS) offers Fellowships in Adult Hip and Knee Arthroplasty. Applications are invited for four fellowship positions in adult joint replacement surgery for the year 2013. Each fellow will be placed with a reputed joint replacement centre in India for a period three months.

The fellowship aims to offer exposure on wide-ranging aspects of lower limb replacement surgery including primary, revision and complex reconstructive surgeries.

Eligibility: Applicant must have a Postgraduate degree in Orthopaedic surgery and be a primary member of ISHKS. ISHKS will offer a suitable stipend for the duration of the fellowship. Hyatt Regency, Kolkata is a luxury hotel in Kolkata, India. The hotel provides a tranquil retreat amidst spectacular landscape gardens, featuring 233 luxury rooms and suites and convention area.

The hotel is 16 km from Kolkata International Airport and is 15km from Howrah Railway Station and 7km from Sealdah Railway Station.

Guidelines for Abstract submission:The Organizing committee reserves the right to withdraw the paper at anytime.Certificate of presentation will be issued only to the presenting author.Please mention whether you would like to present as podium or poster presentation.Quality abstracts which have not been included in podium presentation due to timelimitations may be accepted if the author wishes as e-posters.Papers will be subjected to a blind peer review.Please do not send in papers that have been presented at previous ISHKS or other meetings.Podium presentation: These will be presented to the assembled delegates in the conference halls. Format will be inMS Powerpoint and exclusively by LCD projection. Personal laptops are not permitted, therefore the file must be handedover to the AV room on a pen-drive or CD a day prior to the presentation. Presentations will be of 6 mins+ 2 mins discussion.The best 6 papers will be selected for Award session. This will consist of duration of 8 mins.E-Posters will be displayed at a separate designated area. The author(s) can be present to explain the same.Acceptance will be communicated via email by 7th April 2013

Communications will be accepted as podium presentations as well as E-poster presentations.ISHKS 2013 will showcase the finest of free papers, and make sure you send in your best!

Rules for submission of free papers at ISHKS 2013Only registered delegates can send in free papers.One person will be permitted to read only one free paper.ISHKS members will be given preference.Structured abstracts need to be submitted with Title, Aims, Material andMethods, Results and Conclusions; Up to three key words can be included.Each paper must include a clear mention of the name of the primary author, co-authors and name of the institution.Revealing the author's or institution anywhere in the text will automatically disqualify the abstract.Once abstract is accepted, additional authors cannot be added.All authors should submit a disclosure of any financial affiliations with the industry, which have a potential conflict of interestwith the theme of the paper.Abstract submission can be done online.
