During this period the battalicm (less Company "B" reinforced) was assi~sued the mission as the regLuental reserve. Company "3" reinforced was attached to 2d Battalion and was employed as the left HLR company on Line J~ll.MESTOh'!>!. Two sections of Blm.'!l mortars were also attached to 2d Battalion and were employed in the defense of Line JAMESTCWN. The battalion CP was locat.ed vtcinity CT047014. Companies "A" and "C" reinforced were employed in assisting HLR battalions develop perimeter defenses on Hills 229, 201, and lr:\1. Blocking positions in depth of the r.!LR we1·e manned by platoons and companies at various times during the month as com]<a.t exercises or as support for MLR bat­talions, One ( 1) platoon of j<SC was assigned the rdssion of maintain­·i ng Line WYOIHNG and Ca'11p impr<lvements.

via motor march to vicinity BT970028 and commenced relief of Company 11 D11 , 2/7.

At 0818301, Company 11 C11 (reinf) departed CP and proceeded via motor march to

vicinity CT021025, to commence relief of Company "F" (reinf) 2/7, at 082.3.301

the relief of Company "F" completed. Company ncr. (reini') came under the oper-

ational control of 2/7. Company 11 F11 ( reinf) came under the operational control

of 1/7.

At 091820I, Company 11 A" ( reinf) departed CP at Camp Meyer and at 0918451,

commenced relief of Company 11 D11 (reinf). At 0923151 the relief was completed,

At 092316I, Commanding Officer,~? assumed command of the left battalion sector,

center NLR regiment, All units previously attached to 2/7 reverted to parent

control. Company "E" (reinf), 2/7 was attached to 1/7. One (1) combat patrol

was conducted this period with negative, results and one (1) rear area patrol

While the action on Hill 90 prevented the execution of Operation Dog the results achieved in the action served to damage the enemy tar greater.

1. The plan for the operation was fiexible as evidenced by the pre­planning for probable action on Hill 90 resulting in the rapid friendl;y in­fantry and supporting arme action to counteract the enem;y action.

2. All pereormel on Hill 90 were i'8111iliar with the terrain and the situation and were well oriented on the enem;y situation and course of action.

3. Friendliee were well led and well trained and they demonstrated superb fire discipline and coordination between squads and tire teams.

4. Tank-infantry cooperation was excellent and resulted in the utmost in unity of action.
