• Developed by Robert H. Waterman, Jr. and Tom Peters in 1980

• For implementing Change within Origination Effectively

• Maps a constellation of interrelated factors

• These Factor influence an organization's ability to change

• Alignment of factors for origination to be successful

• To evaluate how well org. is positioned to achieve its objectives

• Involves seven factors

• Classified as “Soft“ or “Hard”

• Hard – Easier to define or Identify and Influence easily

• Strategy Statements, Organization Charts, Formal Process and

IT systems

• Soft – Influence a lot by culture, difficult to describe &

• Shared Values at the center – Determine how people

behave in org.
