Herding TestsMonday, September 9th, 008 • Location - Cameron, MO

Approximately 2 hours from the Expocentre HCT or JHD - $5.00/dog/run

(Includes $2.50 qualifying fee required by AHBA)

PRE-ENTRY IS MANDATORY. Deadline - September 1, 008

Come One, Come All and see how your Samoyeds react to sheep!

We'll guarantee they'll all have big grins on their faces. What a way to start the 2008 Nationals! Scheduling will be done so

those entering the novice weight pull will have no trouble doing so.

The herding will be held this year at the Reality Canine Center in Cameron, MO. Approximately 2 hours from the Expocentre. I-35 North to Exit #54, go 3 miles west on Hwy 36, turn left (south) onto O’Connell Road (which is directly across from Hwy C), go 1.8 miles and ranch is on the left.

There are motels close to the herding site if you wish to stay close on Sunday night on your way to Topeka. Dog friendly motels: Best Western @ 816-632-2187, Super 8 @ 816-632-8888.

We will be running AHBA tests on Monday, September 29, 2008.

First and second legs will be available. Both the HCT (Herding Capability Test) and JHD (Junior Herding Dog) will be offered. We will be holding a morning test and an early afternoon (or late morning) test, so dogs can try for both legs in one day. Remember the first leg of the HCT earns your dog 100 working points and the second HCT leg earns your dog another 100 working points towards the SCA Working Title.

Cost will be: HCT or JHD - $35.00. The cost will include the qualifying fee of $2.50 required by AHBA. Limit: 50 total runs for the day.

Qualifying rosettes and awards (for qualifying and for earning a title) will be offered by HTCH Jake and his owners or through generous donations. If you would like to make a donation towards rosettes or awards, please send it directly to Ann & Jan Schlobohm, made out to SCA 2008. Those passing the first leg of the HCT will receive a beautiful certificate from SCA. Those passing both legs of the HCT or JHD will receive a certificate and title directly from AHBA.

Pre-entry is mandatory.

Closing date is Monday, September 1, 2008!!

There will be a food concession on site for breakfast and lunch.

sanctioned weight Pull on tuesday

The sanctioned weight pull is an amazing event where spectators will see some of the

be like an average man pulling well over two tons! Bob Sencenbaugh will judge the event

under SCA Weight Pull rules listed in the latest At Your Service. The sanctioned weight

pull will also be held on-site at the Kansas Expocentre on level, carpeted pavement with a

wheeled cart. Pre-entries are $15 per dog. A LIMITED number of same-day entries

will be accepted at $0 per entry. Weigh-in will be available before the event.

plywood Sammy cutout Two "show groomed" Sammy cutouts

The SCA Specialty Committee is excited to announce the first Decorate-A-Dog competition! A plywood cutout of a “generic” Samoyed has been created for this activity. It is approximately 16” x 16” x ½” in size.

To enter, purchase an "ungroomed" wooden dog cut-out from the 08 National's Samoyed Store (www.samoyedstore.com) at the "Decorated Dog" merchandise link. Decorate the cutout with your own special flair, then bring it to the National to compete for Decorated Dog Best In Show. Buy an extra dog to decorate and keep for yourself! Foreign substances are definitely allowed in your dogs' coat for this competition!

You must use the official cutout of the dog to enter this competition! The wooden Sammy entries will be on display at the 2008 National.

The entry that is selected Best of Breed will receive a beautiful prize. After the winner has been announced, the decorated Sammies will be placed in a silent auction, with the top entries going on to the Live Auction! At the close of the bidding for the silent auction Sammies, the lucky winning bidders will pay for their purchases and the Sammies will go to their new homes!

Sponsorship is available at $0 per dog. For questions, contact Karen McFarlane at [email protected] or 816.628.6802. All decorated dogs should be received by Specialty Chairperson by the start of the 2008 National Specialty. If you are not able to attend the specialty, but still wish to enter the competition, please send your entry to: Celinda Cheskawich, 18 Wieri Rd, Woodland, WA 9867-911.
