Second Sunday of Lent March 1, 2015

SECOND SUNDAY OF LENT Genesis 22:1-2. 9ª. 10-13. 15-18. This Reading shows how complete was Abraham’s obedience to God. Romans 8:31b-34. Since God is on our side, we can face anything. Mark 9:2-10. on the mountain Elijah and Moses ap-peared to them. Moses represented the Law. Elijah the prophets. Thus Jesus is seen as bringing the law and the prophets to fulfilment. On Mount Tabor Jesus’ disciples got a glimpse of the Glory that was his as a Son of God. The transfig-uration shows the depth of God’s love for us. Jesus is transfigured before the eyes of Peter, James and John. Who hear the voice of God from a cloud say. This is my beloved son. The first Reading recalls Abraham’s willingness to sacrifice his son Isaac. In the second reading from Romans, we are remind-ed once again that if God is for us, who can be against us? The Gospel recounts the Transfiguration, where in Jesus’ identity as the Son of God is confirmed. SEGUNDO DOMINGO DE CUARESMA Génesis 22: 1-2. 9ª. 10-13. 15-18. Esta lectura muestra cómo fue completa la obediencia de Abraham a Dios. Romanos 8: 31b-34.Puesto que Dios está de nues-tro lado, podemos enfrentamos a cualquier cosa. Marcos 9: 2-10. En la montaña Elías y Moisés apa-recen a a los discípulos de Jesús. Moisés represen-ta la Ley. Elías a los profetas. Así, Jesús es visto como trayendo la ley y los profetas a su cumplimien-to. En el Monte Tabor los discípulos de Jesús tienen una visión de la gloria de Jesús como el Hijo de Dios. La transfiguración muestra la profundidad del amor de Dios por nosotros. Jesús se transfiguró delante de los ojos de Pedro, Santiago y Juan. Que oyen la voz de Dios de una nube decir. Este es mi hijo amado. La primera lectura recuerda la disposición de Abraham de sacrificar a su hijo Isaac.
