Beyond the 70Z, several other impressive Putzmeister innovations were unveiled at WOC.

The 70Z-Meter made its first appearance at the World of Concrete 2009 in Las Vegas, following its introduction in 2008. Recognized as the world’s largest truck-mounted concrete boom pump, the unit was clearly the star of the show and made a lasting impression on those who viewed it.

“We’ve taken concrete placement to the extreme,” says Dave Adams, Putzmeister America President and CEO. “Dubbed the ‘Juggernaut’ for its size and power, the new 70Z is not only the world’s largest boom pump, it also features technologies and support only available from Putzmeister.

“Many show attendees came to our booth to look at and learn more about the 70Z. Some were even taking pictures of themselves next to the machine.

“It’s motivating to see how excited the industry is over this innovative feat and what it means for the future of truck-mounted boom pumps.”

The first 70Z arrived in the United States on August 22, 2008 at the San Diego harbor in California. This was after a three-week trek by ship, traveling 8,635 nautical miles (16,000km) departing from Putzmeister in Aichtal, Germany.

“Our customers are eager to use this machine on their job sites,” comments Bill Dwyer, Putzmeister America’s Vice President of Sales and Marketing.

The proud owner of the first 70Z-Meter manufactured is Associated Concrete Pumping of Sacramento, California. Their unit has already been on multiple job sites,

extending its boom over 227 feet vertically and nearly 213 feet horizontally to pump concrete at extremely far distances.

Beyond the excitement of the 70Z’s grand appearance at the WOC, Putzmeister unveiled many other new products and technologies. Plus, Allentown Shotcrete Technology showcased its latest equipment developments at an adjacent booth.

to the late Terry Smith, former PMa President and CEo, who passed away from cancer in September 2008.

A customer favorite returns with the BSF 42-Meter truck-mounted concrete boom pump. The new version features a four-section roll-and-fold boom and a 120° working range in One-Sided Support (OSS) outrigger mode.

It also offers Putzmeister’s closed loop Free Flow Hydraulics, a 136' 10" (41.70m) vertical reach, 124' 8" (38.00m) horizontal reach and maximum 260 yd³/hr (200m³/hr) output. New on the updated 42-Meter is the Ergonic® Pump System (EPS). For more details, download literature from our web site.

Our new Telebelt TBS 130 conveyor is mounted on a semi-trailer for greater mobility, a tighter turning radius and reduced axle loads. It can be driven with a two- or three-axle chassis, and the trailer can be configured with two or three axles. As a result, customers worldwide can own a Telebelt that works with their local weight restrictions. The unit’s high volume material placement relies on a self-contained Caterpillar EPA Tier 3 and EU Stage 3A engine for lower operating costs and reduced fuel consumption. Without needing the chassis during operation, the unit footprint is reduced. The TBS 130 provides fast delivery of any flowable material up to four inches.

Standard on Series II Detach boom kits, our Hydraulic Quick Disconnect speeds up the truck to tower boom conversion. Hose bundles on the boom and pedestal are attached to coupling plates; the operator can couple and uncouple multiple hydraulic hoses simultaneously in one easy motion.

Our new, optional On-board Hydraulic Oil Dehydrator/Filter removes water and keeps oil in optimum condition. It is integrated directly into the boom pump and when activated by a dedicated switch in the cab, it operates continuously while the chassis is running.

An optional feature, the pneumatically-operated Squeeze Valve prevents concrete from coming out of the end hose when repositioning the boom onsite. Just pull the compressed air-operated valve over the end hose for a tight seal and reduced end hose wear.

Telebelt® TBS 130 Mounts on a Semi-Trailer

The City Pump line has been enhanced with two new models, the CP 1409H D and CP 2110 HP. This increases the product line to five options including the existing CP 1409H, CP 2112L and CP 2116H.

The CP 1409H D is primarily designed for export, as it can fit in a standard 40-foot shipping container and runs independent from the chassis exclusively off an auxiliary power unit. The CP 2110 HP offers the option of higher pressures when required via the optional SBU rod/piston conversion kit. With pumping pressures up to 3,200 psi and outputs up to 139 yd³/hr, this unit can handle a range of applications including high-rise jobs.

AST 25 Announced MR-1T IntroducedAllentown Shotcrete Technology’s new MR-1T trailer-mounted mixer-pump is the newest addition to the company’s refractory industry product line. This durable and reliable mixer-pump has a small footprint for setup in confined spaces and promotes easy transport and storage.

The compact and maneuverable MR-1T easily navigates through working plants or warehouses with minimal disruption of other activities.

Standard features for the 8,300-pound (3,765kg) mixer-pump include:• Seven yd³/hr (5m³/hr) maximum output• 2,000 psi (138 bar) maximum material pressure• 12 cubic feet (340L) hopper capacity• 2,000 pounds (907kg) mixer capacity• 99-inch (2.5m) mixer load height with bag cutter• Rugged S-Valve with splined shaft• High performance diesel engine• Removable hopper extension for easy cleanout and access to parts for maintenance

In addition, no special road permits are required, and parts are readily available.

Allentown Shotcrete added the AST 25 robotic nozzle manipulator to its underground industry product line.

Designed for wet- or dry-process work, the model has a track-mounted robotic boom for use with a concrete or shotcrete pump. The robotic boom allows the nozzleman to stay out from underneath newly excavated, exposed rock as well as features a maximum spraying height of 25' (7.62m) and 35' (10.67m) side to side. It also accommodates larger nozzles sizes of 2.5" (65mm) or 3" (80mm).

Standard features include:• 10 hp (7.5kW) 460V/60hz electric motor for boom and nozzle functions• 26.5 hp (20kW) water-cooled diesel engine for tracks and outriggers• 50-foot (15m) tethered remote

Ideal for slope protection, tunneling and water blasting, the machine can be set to automatically oscillate for smooth coverage, offering even more of an advantage over manual spraying.

The AST 25 also offers heavy-duty rubber tracks that are independently driven with two-speed track control, hydraulic outriggers and a diesel engine.

The newest Ergonic feature, ETS, allows Putzmeister customer support personnel to wirelessly access and troubleshoot any problems that may occur with the Ergonic computer systems. Technicians can remotely access the system anytime the truck is in PTO mode, which includes viewing truck, boom and pump data. Fast and accurate system diagnostics means less boom pump downtime.

EPS offers a smoother pumping process with an optimized output for greatest efficiency and low fuel consumption as well as reduced component wear. A tool of EPS, the Ergonic Graphic Display (EGD) is a three-inch square LCD screen from which the operator can both view and change pump settings such as stroke time, hydraulic pressure, engine RPM and more. Integral to EPS, Ergonic Output Control (EOC) automatically controls engine RPM while ensuring the lowest possible fuel consumption, reduced wear and low noise.

EBC helps ensure minimal boom bounce while providing enhanced safety, job site efficiency and easier boom control. OneTouch™ further enables the operator to use a single joystick on the radio remote to automatically move all boom sections and slewing in tandem while keeping the end hose level and the boom within prescribed maximum and minimum heights. Extended Range EBC on the 58- and 61-Meter roll-and-fold booms expands the working range to 170-degrees, compared to 120-degrees without it.

Last year, Putzmeister celebrated its 50th business anniversary. Reflecting back, the company has enjoyed rewarding years as well as weathered

extremely rough economic times during the past five decades. However, Putzmeister has prevailed, indicating strength, stability and a continuing long-term commitment to this industry. Today, Putzmeister is poising itself for the next 50 years.

Similar to many companies in today’s economy, we implemented cutbacks based on production. However, during this downturn, we cannot lose sight of further strengthening the company’s foundation as well as exploring other opportunities, especially as the nation’s entrepreneurial spirit has always advanced technology during times of major crisis.

Therefore, we continue our research and development of new products and technologies, some of which were unveiled at the WOC and more that are in progress. We are still enhancing service programs, such as our new online parts ordering system. Plus, we are further broadening the capabilities of employees, vital to our leadership role in 24/7 customer support. At this time, we also encourage distributors and customers to take advantage of PMA service schools for further training of their personnel.

In addition, we continue to explore new business opportunities, which include aggressively pursuing different markets for our diverse product line, or our most recent decision to relocate Esser Twin Pipes to the Putzmeister facilities in Wisconsin.

We fully intend to maintain the strong Esser brand identity, and the company will operate as an independent business. The goal in moving is to help further increase sales by utilizing added resources at Putzmeister. This includes more access to sales channels, avenues to expanding the Esser product line and favorable logistics of operating from centralized and fully-equipped production facilities.

Further strengthening our foundation and exploring opportunities is where we need to be; so when the market booms, we’ll be ready to serve more customers, even better.
