Spiralling oil and gas prices have given a majorboost to demand for alternative fuels.Households, businesses, municipalities and evenenergy utilities have long rediscovered wood asan alternative heat source. However, the fire-wood and wood chips that are used for residen-tial fireplaces and industrial furnaces are alsorequired by the paper and reconstituted woodproducts industries.
