Grandma BettyTraditional Grandmother. Conservative, an avid gardener, loves her grandkids, technology illiterate, quilts, knitts, kind, warm, and makes a mean enchilada. She knows nothing about pedometers. In fact, she never had to use one, but recently her doctor told her that unless she starts walking 3000 steps a day her health will not hold up.

How to create a simple enough

pedometer that a 70+ person use it?

Greg Kunz“The idea of minimal functions and only 2 buttons is great for me”

“The scree feedback is really simple and straight forward”“I’m not sure that I will need the ‘time walked’ function”“it looks and feels too big even though the screen has a good size”

“I really like that I can see how far I have walked”

“The screen facing up does not help me at all. I’m always wearing loose clothing that will cover the screen”“It feels too big and awkward in my hand. I need things big and easy to see but this is too big”

Joice Kunz

The screen is supposed to face upwardsto make it easier to check the data.

Apperently it does not work!!!

“as well as creating the form, some of the focus was channeled to the user

“ “I am not sure where I would put it. There is no clip, no no adhesive and or sort of attachment”

“The size is perfect. Not big, not small. The screen could be a little bigger though. Maybe the number could be bigger”

“I am scared to put this in my pocket and accidentaly hit the only one button and reset all my data. You should implement a way to lock it”

“I want a start and stop button so I can control when to start counting or when I want to stop it”

“I wish you would have put it something to clip onto my clothes. A clip would be just perfect. I could put it in my belt, my jeans, anything that a clip would grab onto”

“I have to say that the idea about a pocket watch does not work at all. My grandfather used a pocket watch. I am old but I don’t have 150 years of age. Old people like simple things but still with some level of modern feel. If I were you I would get away with that idea”

Yes! Roger that! (I am not making up what he said. He was thatblunt and straight forward)

“Maybe I should make it look like something familiar

to seniors”

“good clip on the back. Make sure the clip can fit anywhere and it can hold well”

“I like the feature of ‘total’. I like to know how much I walked after a certain period of time. It makes me feel that I did something worththile for my health”

“The buttons need to have easy access and be fairly big. Old people’s hands are big”

“the numbers on the screen have to be big enough for a senior to read and it has to have good contrast with the background”.

“good shape and thickness around the edges”

Almost there. Just a few more things to fix
